Eh, so this episode introduces Ginei. I don’t really like the guy and until I saw this episode I completely forgot he even existed in the series. That just goes to show you how infrequent his appearances are in the manga. The only ‘memorable’ thing in my mind of him is kicking his ass kicked by True Moka and that’s about it. This episode reminded me just how dumb Tsukune could be though. Who in their right mind would peek inside a window just because someone told them to for the purpose of repairing a relationship? Oh right, an idiot. The True Moka vs. Werewolf Ginei fight was the best so far if you ask me despite it feeling a bit short.

Ah yes I recall the chapter this was based on. However it is heavily altered even though the basic framework is still intact. That is, Tsukune getting caught by Tamao and Moka having to come and save him despite being weak against water. The additions were pretty much the entire competition and from what I can remember Kurumu and Yukari weren’t present. Though I think that them being added was a good thing, especially Kurumu since she gets to show off her body in a swimsuit. The fight was altered as well but it was all in an effort to make it longer so that’s cool I suppose.

Whoa. Whoa. Whoa! What the hell is this? Is this filler? Hold on now, is filler really needed in a show scheduled for 13 episodes? Bah. Whatever. Overall this episode was a split between funny and boring. As for which one was more dominant, well, let’s just say that Kurumu’s breast-rubbing and True Moka kept me aware and alert. I just didn’t see the point of it even in the sense of it being anime-only. There wasn’t really a point to the episode except to reinforce that Tsukune, at the moment, is useless against even three lame-ass monsters who “united” to form the ultimate fail of a monster.

Anyway, the more important changes this episode brings is the animation for the OP and ED. The OP animation basically throws together the entire harem. Though I’ve been questioning why a certain witch (no, not Yukari) is being implied to be in the harem…. The ED animation is where it’s at. It fits the ED song perfectly and shows some scenes that really should be in the actual show itself, especially the fighting ones. Speaking of which, I found it both odd and interesting how they showed Kurumu, Ruby, and Yukari fighting True Moka. Now it could be just for show but I can’t help but wonder if they would implement such an angle in the story. Well, I hope that it foreshadows the darker aspects of the manga being animated much sooner than they are supposed to be because the fanservice angle isn’t really what R+V is supposed to be about.

Ah yes, Yukari. To be honest she’s not a favorite of mine even if she is a cute loli. I just find the other girls much more likable. That’s not to say that I don’t like her though even if she did come across as annoying in her debut. Anyway, I had some good laughs from this episode. I couldn’t believe the entire soap opera segment about loneliness talking place during the fight. I was rolling, especially after those lizard goons mentioned it. On another note, Tsukune must have a lot of blood. He lost a ton of it during this episode and that just made me laugh for some reason. That reminds me, I’m going to have to look back at the manga at some things I don’t remember being present such as Tsukune pulling down Kurumu’s panties. I swear, if those two were to be left alone without any interruptions they’d eventually end up naked and doing some interesting things. Well, that is if Tsukune wasn’t, like Yukari said earlier in the episode, ‘a half-assed male’.

Oh yes, and this weeks’ fight lasted for 59 seconds. Will there be a shorter time soon?!

[ Episode 2: Succubus and Vampire ]

This entry got out later than I expected. Though really I blame it on receiving Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of Lions yesterday. Needless to say that docked a lot of my time to do other things. Also, yeah, the fanservice is still here but not as much as last week. Though I don’t think it really matters anyway as I wasn’t complaining about it to begin with (otherwise I wouldn’t be blogging it ). Anyways, this episode introduces Kurumu! She’s a sexy, blue-haired succubus with massive melons that can suffocate you to the point of death. And then there are her fingers…

Kurumu my favorite girl in R+V next to Awakened Moka (and another girl yet to be introduced) so this episode was rather delightful for me. I’m loving her voice which is to be expected from the talents of Fukuen Misato. One thing that had me laughing throughout the episode though was the way her breasts were bouncing all over the place. That is the ultimate emphasis on just how huge they are lol. Another thing that tickled me was the narrator bat that chimes in some times. The stuff he says is hilarious, particularly the “Stop staring at each other~chuu!” and “This week’s fight lasted 73 seconds~chuu!” ones.

I’m glad that Moka’s transformation scene wasn’t carried out in full this time since all that would have been was a time staller. Back to Kurumu, I liked the way that she was animated as such has one of the more attractive character designs along with another character to be introduced later (a witch, not the loli one either). Next up is the loli witch, Yukari. I’m wondering if after her if the last member of the harem is going to be introduced though. I say that because Mizore (that’s her name) doesn’t appear until around chapter 18 of the manga. They’re going to have to skip quite a few chapters if they plan on doing that.

On the music side, the full OP and ED themes are really nice. I particularly love the ED theme, Dancing in the Velvet Moon, and I can’t wait to grab the single.

One last thought, do they have panties in any other color that white in R+V?

Ah~. Rosario + Vampire has arrived and what can I say?

Well, I can say that Rosario + Vampire’s presentation turned out rather differently from what I expected it to be when compared to the manga. I mean sure, there is some fanservice in the manga here and there but the entire first episode is chocked full panty-shots and breast-zooms. Highschool Girls first came to mind after seeing so many of them. There is such a thing as ‘too much fanservice’. “But GONZO was in charge so you should have known better”, some might say.

Should I have? Maybe, but not because of GONZO. Though, let’s just say I certainly didn’t think the ecchi would be bumped up so many notches.

I’m a fan of the manga and there are just some things I can’t overlook and even then if I wasn’t a reader of the manga I think it would remain the same. Moka’s skirt is way too short. It hardly covers her butt for goodness sake! Granted it isn’t that long to begin with in the manga but you don’t see her ass every few seconds either. Hinano’s list of comparisons of the changes are a pretty good idea of what GONZO has done to the anime so I’ll skip going into more of those.

Really, at this point, this show is reaching out to around two types of people. Those who are fans of the manga and those who really like their comedy/ecchi/harem/romance thrown at them in overabundance. I’m not sure how most of the former group will receive this show but from what I’ve been seeing across the blogosphere it doesn’t seem to be good. At all. As for the fanservice, it really should be toned down but that probably won’t happen given that there are at least three more girls to be introduced who will undoubtedly raise the fanservice level. A lot.

Don’t get me wrong, though. Laughs are aplenty whether intentional or unintentional and that counts toward a good part of the enjoyment. Right now I’m just wondering how far they’re going to get with only 13 scheduled episodes. I’m not sure whether an original ending is inevitable or if there will be second and third seasons but I at least hope that some of the better parts of the manga make it in. Well, and I really like Mizuki Nana, Kikuko Inoue, and Kugimiya Rie who are all in this show so they are three good reasons to watch it. At least for me.

Oh, did I mention that Awakened Moka and Shizuka are HOT?

Still, the first episode wasn’t as good as I thought it should have been. As for blogging this, <s>I don’t think I will but</s> I will be doing so…and continue watching as well. The R+V fan within me just can’t NOT blog this.
