[ Episode 13: "It's More A Problem Of Whether You Get In Master's Way Rather Then Being An Enemy" by Chachamaru ]

Asuna…*sigh*

This episode was filled with pure action and hilarity. The girls get separated in various places. Ayaka’s group gets stuck in a prehistoric room while Kuu Fei’s group somehow ends up in command of a starship in space. What the hell lol? Despite all this, everyone is saved in the end after Takahata, Evangeline, and Chachamaru defeat the fairy. However, they remain inside the castle even after defeating it. It can only mean that someone else is behind the reason they were brought there in the first place and it doesn’t seem to be Black Rose Baron.

Lastly, Asuna really is retarded (as said by Evangeline). She could’ve unleashed Armageddon on the world and not know it (right after being told not to touch anything).

[ Episode 12: "Well, After All That Reasoning It Comes Down To Just How One Feels" by Yue ]

Whoa. What a twist. I never expected Negi to actually be turned into an animal. And a Chupacabra no less. Just how will he get out of this (and how long will he stay like that)? He doesn’t have any magic at his disposal since his certification was revoked and it doesn’t seem like he’ll be able to rely on his partners’ abilities either. Evangeline, Chachamaru, Sayo, and Kazumi are the only girls who aren’t present in the castle they were transported to at the end of the episode, so maybe they’ll come to Negi’s aid (particularly Eva).

Also, the beginning stuff with Konoka and Setsuna was pretty cute. Those two are always so great together. Oh yeah, and the Yue contract is complete. Though that doesn’t really matter right now….

[ Episode 11: "Hmm, So A Baron Is A Type Of Rose? I Thought It Was Some Kind Of Potato" by Haruna ]

I think Haruna wanted more than a kiss…

It seems like I’ve almost forgotten how hilarious the Black Rose Baron is. There’s such a serious air around the Black Rose Baron but then he/she comes out of nowhere with some unexpected act (like eating in Negi’s room and crashing in the tree lol). Haruna, one of my favorite girls, gets her contract in this episode. For some reason though I thought she put in some tongue when she kissed Negi…

Anyways, Negi’s secret is yet again in trouble with Yue running off after finding out that she would have to kiss Negi to make a contract. Silly girl. Now she’s confronted by the Black Rose Baron. Silly girl!

[Episode 10: You hid Negi-sensei from me and took him where? I will never allow such a thing!]

[Thoughts]

It’s been so long since I’ve watched some good ol’ Negima!?. If I hadn’t encountered computer problems in the past I would’ve been all caught up but then again I would’ve have had gotten a new computer. So, it all works out I guess. Anyways, as for this episode, the mysterious Black Rose Baron is brought up yet again. Of course there are the usual jokes scattered about. They even ripped Enma Ai’s “Ippen Shinde Miru” from Jigoku Shoujo! I loved Ayaka, Mana, and Chizu-nee in this episode as well. Ayaka because of her usual iincho-ish behavior and the lovely Mana because she owned one of those stupid puppet-things. Oh, and Chizu-nee because she’s as subtly ruthless as ever. The battle in this episode wasn’t as intense as some in the past but it was still good, especially since Ayaka and Mana were among the number who were going up against Negi and the other girls. On that note, is it wrong that I wanted Ayaka and Mana to beat them all down?

Oh the breasts! Oh the fanservice!

It’s things like this that make me wonder what I would do if I happened to be trapped on a tropical island with 31 scantily glad girls…. And then I realize I’d probably die from some heart complications.

Summary:

Negi is up late one night studying some magic. Asuna interrupts him, concerned that he’s up so late and that him may catch a cold. Negi quickly responds and mentions that what he was doing had nothing to do with her. Asuna is instantly pissed and walks away with his book in hand. To make matters worse, Negi suddenly has one of his powerful sneeze attacks that instantly blows away ALL of Asuna’s clothing, leaving her completely naked. She stands up while covering herself with one hand and uses the other to slam her harisen into Negi’s head, sending him flying and waking up both Konoka and Kamo. Three days later, Negi and the entire class are on a plane destined for a tropical island (owned by no other than Ayaka). Asuna’s still pissed at Negi and before he could dwell on the matter any longer everyone is thrown off the plane after reaching their destination with parachutes.

Everyone immediately starts to enjoy themselves. Some girls are swimming while others are simply playing in the water or on land with sand. Negi, however, is still down and Asuna is busy blowing up beach balls, still angry with Negi. Later, while playing a game Negi is accidentally knocked into the water by Chizuru and starts to drown. Kaede quickly saves him, though he immediately finds himself trapped between the breasts of Ayaka, Kaede, Chizuru and Haruna. Asuna, of course, is still angry at Negi. Even more so because of the previous scene. The girls then think up a plan to get Negi and Asuna friendly once again by making Asuna think Negi will be attacked by sharks. Of course this plot fails, leaving Asuna as mad as ever.

Elsewhere on the island Evangeline, Asakura and a few others are in search of a Chupacabra (this element of the episode is of course brought over from Negima!?) that was said to exist on the island according to Asakura who obtained the information from the hotel staff. While searching they encounter Chisame, who is in her cosplay outfit as Chiu. Later that night, Negi informs the girls that he lost his glasses but didn’t get to tell them because he was worried over Asuna. A few minutes later while Negi is trying to sleep, Ayaka visits Asuna to talk to her about the situation and also informs her about Negi’s glasses. Asuna then goes to search for them in the moonlight.

The next morning Negi is awakened by footsteps that belong to Asuna. When she tries to leave he dashes outside to stop her. Looking down at his glasses he realizes that she was out all night searching for them. After watching the sunrise, Asuna suggests that they swim and while doing so she embraces him and forgives him.
Just having made up, a submarine suddenly arrives and surprises both Negi and Asuna. All of the girls are on it and together with Negi and Asuna they watch the sunrise.

Impressions/Thoughts:

This OVA chronicles a “missing chapter” in the original anime series, Mahou Sensei Negima!, and uses the character designs and animation style of the second series, Negima!?. I found the OVA to be very enjoyable and entertaining as it brought back a lot of memories from the manga. It’s full to the brim with comedy and fanservice. Oh the fanservice. Breasts, butts, and crotches all over. I found it particularly hilarious that Setsuna was staring at Konoka’s ass every time she bent over.

Also, fans of the manga will love the various references such as the principle stamping all of those documents so that Eva could attend the vacation, Chisame’s cosplaying, and Negi’s display of Chinese kenpou. Pani Poni Dash fans will also notice a little surprise (the bunny ball on the beach). An excellent job was done on this OVA. High quality animation and great scene direction. SHAFT/GANSIS really outdid themselves. I look forward to the Summer OVA (whenever it gets subbed).

My Verdict: 9.5/10 – The fanservice alone is enough to put the score over a 9, but that’s not really my reason. ^_^

Impressions:

I’m probably one of the biggest Mana fans out there when it comes to Negi. So truth be told I freaked out when she appeared in this episode. It sucks that it was only for a brief minute or so but still I was glad to see her. Of course she was cleaning her big gun as usual. XD It was hilarious when she denied Yuuna permission to see her gun on the spot though. Also, I need more of Ayaka! Why isn’t she being shown more as well?!She was just so hot and awesome in this episode that you just got to love her.

Anyways, on with the rest of the episode. Negi and the crew are on a camping trip and after catching a lot of seafood (which Kaede helped them acquire of course since it was a LAKE LOL) they run into the “darkness” as well as the Black Rose Baron yet again. I’m still not sure of the Baron is a man or woman…the voice is throwing me off big time. From there Negi tries to teach the girls some basic magic but faints. I’ll chalk it up to him having little sleep the night before since he hardly used any magic in the entire episode to be so exhausted. We also get to see Evangeline and Chacha having some tea with the frog and cat. XD

Kaede then appears, looking over Negi. She informs him that she knows everything about him and also gives him some comfort. I also have to point out that Kaede so far has to have had the most sensual and hottest pactio yet. Seriously. She crawled over to Negi like a cat and kissed him without hesitation! Shifting scenes, the principal returns and reveals that the Star Crystal is indeed in Japan. A flash of what seems to be the Star Crystal is shown…and if that is the crystal then that means that Negi has it! I wonder what will happen to him if it’s found out that he has it? It can’t be anything good…

Lastly, the ending bits with Ayaka and Chao and the others where hilarious yet again.
