Hayate no Gotoku! ep. 30-35

[ Episode 30: Beautiful Young Lady Saw Great Detective! Case of Murdered Teacher ]
![]()
Insanity was what this episode was about. Nagi apparently wrote the script for this and boy was it horrible (in a funny way). I could only laugh at the ridiculous deductions, the fanservice shots and Yukiji waking up from playing dead. The butler battle was hilarious as well. I may be wrong but that was a parody of Beyblade, wasn’t it? Or was it Duel Masters? I can’t really remember but I did find it funny how they blocked out parts of Hayate’s and the other butler’s hands when they were shooting.

[ Episode 31: Do You Like Rich, Pretty Ladies? ]
This was an okay episode. I didn’t particularly like any part of it except for maybe the very end with the two boys and their gold suits. For some reason that just cracked me up along with their stupid comedy act. The Sakuya/Hayate interaction was good as well and you just gotta love the way she uses that fan of hers. ^_^

[ Episode 29: Marriage Meeting ]
This episode was HILARIOUS. I was wondering where the whole Saki wanting a marriage meeting angle was going but it ended up for the better. Hayate reading lips wrongly, Maria getting cut off from singing her song, and Yukiji being the one who kidnapped Kaoru-sensei and confirmed to be even stronger than Tama…it was all a good mix of enjoyable stuff. I also absolutely loved the Yugioh and Sailor Moon references. That butler at the very end got totally defeated by Sailor Moon’s Heartattack technique! I’m not sure if they’ll be doing a Butler Battle every week but it sure seems like a good idea if they can make them as exciting and funny as this one was.

[ Episode 28: Black Hayate ]
What a nice and Hayate-like end to such a good arc. Kuzuha was hilarious as expected and even had her character in clothes similar to Revy from Black Lagoon (they do share the same seiyuu after all). Hayate managed to win the tournament through constant forfeitures and his only real battles were with Hinagiku and Shion. The latter of which ended as quickly as it started. I never expected Shion to be such a small girl, lol. I don’t know what to expect from this League of Mysterious Dark Butlers but I can hardly wait until they expand on that storyline. All I know is that it practically came out of no where but, come on, this is Hayate no Gotoku after all.

[ Episode 27: Hayate Rises Upon the Earth ]
The new OP is awesome! Kuzuha has also skyrocketed into place as one of my favorite characters in the series right now. She is absolutely made of WIN. I loved the whole Butler Battle Tournament setup to bits. Hinagiku’s entry to her first match was absolutely legendary! This is easily one of the best episodes of the series for me so far. I enjoyed it all from beginning to end. I particularly laughed at scenes like when Hayate was defeated by Shion by her simply blowing into his ear. Dear lord, how does one come up with the insane stuff in HnG? I can’t wait for more of the “Shine! Butler Battle Tournament!” in the next episode.

[ Episode 26: It Took 29 Minutes to Deliver, So Please Pay the Amount We Had Originally Asked For... Is an Old Myth Now ]
No, I haven’t dropped Hayate no Gotoku. It just took me a while to get around to blogging my thoughts after the hectic fall rush. This episode was nice but there have been better. Seeing Nishizawa is always a plus though. That girl sure can eat. The whole Hayate losing his memory thing wasn’t that interesting but it wasn’t exactly boring either. Especially since I got to see him say “Nunnally” out of no where. Seriously what the hell was that, LOL? I also liked the power-up segment. It looked like he was about to go Super Saiyan and scared off that huge turtle. Fun stuff.

[ Episode 25: Shake the Heart ]
If I were in Hayate’s position I probably would prefer being Isumi’s butler way more than Nagi’s. The only thing that would make the switch hard would be Maria. She’s much too beautiful and awesome to just leave behind. Anyways, while this episode wasn’t particularly mind blowing I did enjoy seeing Hayate take out that huge robot which I suspect had to be a reference to a Gunmen from Gurren Lagann. Those demon eyes he uses are just too hilarious. The Evangelion-like explosion made me chuckle quite a bit as well. Other than those few instances, along with Saki being in the episode for quite a good amount of time, this episode was just slightly better than the previous one.
Next episode appears to be an anime-original one as I don’t recall seeing it in the manga at all. That is, unless it comes from a volume I haven’t seen yet.

[ Episode 24: I've Never Experienced Facing Trouble for Being Overly Popular ]
I really enjoyed this episode from start to finish. I think I mentioned before that this part of the story is one of my favorites particularly because of Isumi. She was pretty bold during this little arc and I can’t wait to see the conclusion. The references this week were absolute gold (Tsukhime, Kenshin, Gundam) but the one that stood out the most was the Tsukihime one where Hayate attacked Tama in a similar style that Ciel uses. One thing that surprised me though was Nagi’s mother showing up in the episode via the flashback with Wataru….

[ Episode 23: I`m Not a Kid, Genius Teacher is Here ]
This episode is so funny much in part to Yukiji. As a result there were quite a few Death Note references all of which she was involved in. The funniest were easily her line about being “the god of the new world” and her “just as planned” face at the end of the episode. Also, Shiori was pretty good in this episode as well. She was pretty super smart and can be really sexy when the scene calls for it (like when she and Hayate ended up in their compromising position). It was great to see more Hinagiku as usual even though she was only present for a few minutes at most.
Next episode is going to deal with Isumi’s story from volume three of the manga. I found that part of the manga really enjoyable for its laughs and serious plot so I can’t wait to see it.

[ Episode 22: Who Came Up With the Onomatopoeia "Kapo~n"? It`s Amazing ]
Quite a funny episode! The fishing part was alright but the latter half was more exciting and hilarious in my opinion. Seeing Hayate and Tama mess up stuff along with Maria and Hayate (the former having seen Hayate naked in broad daylight) trying to escape the boiler room was golden for me. The final moments had me reeling in my chair when Nagi caught Hayate on top of Maria. I thought she was going to do a fireball of some sort looking at how pissed she was! As for references I only caught a few in this episode mainly referring to Rock, Evangelion (the logo in the bath, Hayate talking about Lilim which are humans in EVA), and Gundam.

[ Episode 21: Even Peter-san Has Had Enough ]
This episode was simply awesome. It took a while for this to come around though. This was one of the earlier chapters in the manga but I think the anime team did a great job with it’s placement (Hayate already knowing Nagi’s grandpa and such). The return of Eight was hilarious solely because of Shiori. In the manga I couldn’t stop laughing after she called him “oversized trash”. The same thing happened again and I ended up watching that scene at least three times during my first watch of the episode.
