Kita ze Inbou! - キタぜ陰謀!

Winter 2007/2008 is here! Leon’s Winter Season Preview!

I remember one year ago when I did my first anime preview and, of course, it was of the Winter 2006/2007 season. I think I was interested in a lot more shows back then but that doesn’t mean I’m not looking forward or aren’t interested in this season’s offerings. I’m probably thinking it’s fewer this time around because my graduation is coming up and I’m trying to cut-down on the amount of stuff that I watch (I’m pretty sure that plan is going to fail though). Well, whatever the case, as always I don’t know for sure how many shows I’ll be blogging but I will indicate the ones that are guarantees and highly likely. Though you should know where I grab my info from by now, as always much thanks to Pukiwiki, ANN, AniDB, AnimeSuki Forums, MOON PHASE and others. Now, let’s get this thing going.

Mnemosyne – Mnemosyne no Musume-tachi Trailer

I already decided to watch this OVA from the promotional images, synopsis, and seiyuu talent alone. Now after seeing the trailer Mnemosyne is easily one of my most anticipated shows next year along with Macross Frontier, Code Geass S2, and the Haruhi sequel. The animation, while not showing off in the trailer for obvious reasons (poor quality raw), appeared to be really fluid and didn’t seem to skip a beat. I also think that the music for this is going to be good so I definitely can’t wait to hear it. Mnemosyne looks like it will be quite the sexy thriller and action-oriented series. I guess I’d call Mnemosyne’s genre “sexy-spy-action-supernatural-thriller”.

Suteki Tantei Labyrinth ~ First Impressions

This is quite the interesting series. I went into this totally blind and not knowing what to expect. Well, I’m now two episodes in and I’m enjoying it quite a bit. The characters are really decent and aren’t very stereotypical. Mayuki, the boy detective, is pretty unique guy. He has the power to obtain the truth in mysteries and he himself cannot explain how he does it. Then there’s his butler, Seiran, who is a Doll User and man does he have two of the hottest dolls I’ve ever seen. They look like full-grown human women with the added ability of being able to kick ass at superhuman speed. There is another woman, named Aya, running around as well but her intentions at this point aren’t too clear but she is looking for something called the “secret to the way of life”. She seems pretty powerful in more ways than one as well. I really like the female detective though, she’s so awesome and her attitude is quite attractive to me. :P Mayuki’s friends are all nice characters as well and seeing them interact with him is quite fun (Sanae is AWESOME). Oh, and I can’t forget about Hatsumi, his clumsy maid. She’s hilarious, lol.

As the show goes on though I’m still unclear as to what to expect from this series but I am enjoying every bit of it. There are a few questions that I do have though, such as why Mayuki is living separately from his mother (there’s also the question as to what happened to his father) and what exactly is the thing Aya is searching for and why does she need it so badly. I’ll just have to sit back and enjoy the show as the answers to those questions and a few more are given eventually.

Prism Ark ~ First Impressions

I had my eye on this show for quite some time before it aired and it ended up being more or less what I had expected. At least with the very first episode. It was quite intense with the switching between the battle between the main character’s and the antagonist, Sister Hell, and what is apparently a story of the past. Some things don’t quite add up right now but it is quite early in the show to be worrying about such things. The characters introduced so far seem to be more than interesting enough to care about, especially Hyaweh, Priecia, and Sister Hell. I’m guessing more plot will appear in the next episode or two since they only touched on some issues in the first episode, and well, this is a 12 episode series so I don’t think they’ll waste time.

I’ll be following this and will probably make entries about my thoughts when I feel I should. While Prism Ark isn’t the best show of the season it has the potential to be one of the best with a decent set of characters lined up, a cool male lead who isn’t a wuss and knows how to treat the ladies, and a badass female villain who doesn’t waste time with trying to eliminate the heroes. Well, there are a few more reasons as well but those should be more or less apparent. :P

Fall 2007 is here! Leon’s Fall Season Preview!

And thus, another season of anime is upon us. It’s during this time I really start to get excited about the new shows and start to see which ones I’d take to from summaries, trailers, and images available. As always my sources come from the usual suspects: Pukiwiki, ANN, AniDB, AnimeSuki Forums, MOON PHASE and others. So many thanks to those sites for the abundance of information.

I’m not entirely sure how many shows I’ll be blogging this time around since he new semester has already started (even though I only have one class) and there are such things as job opportunities and the like that will require my immediate attention. So for now I’ll probably say I’ll be picking up at least 4-5 new shows (lol I’m sure you know, with me, it’ll be more) for blogging while the rest remain as strictly watching. I suppose it’ll depend on who’s doing what in the rest of the blogosphere (such as what series is getting tons of attention and which is getting very little) but I usually don’t care about such things if I really want to share my opinions on the show..

ef – a tale of memories ~prologue~

When I first came across this on Asuki and aniDB I thought that the summary and images I saw were enough to attract me to this show so I placed it down on my to-watch list for this Fall. Enter the prologue. I was completely taken in with the animation (done by SHAFT) and the wonderful samples of the seiyuu in their roles.

Dead Girls PV ~ Mecha in my Red Garden!

I honestly don’t know what to say. Watching this trailer just blew me away because of it’s ridiculous good-looking action scenes and some rather provocative shots and mostly because I’m quite surprised at the amount of changes. From what I can tell this must be some kind of alternate story with the same characters as before. Here’s a synopsis from ANN:

It’s the future of New York. Kate, Rose, Rachel, and Claire lead the normal school life and a new transfer student comes… The transfer student, Louis wants to be friends with Kate. However, something happens to “Red Garden”. What is the truth behind this and the real purpose.

There’s also mecha in the OVA. o_o Interesting. Well, either way I’m quite looking forward to this OVA.

Rebuild of Evangelion: 1st Trailer ~ Pretty Version!~

Behold, the non-cam recorded version of the first trailer of the upcoming Evangelion movie. Now that everything can be seen clearly the animation is now obviously breathtakingly gorgeous. The wait is getting more painful. >_<

Also, you can check the official website to see this very trailer for further confirmation.

Rebuild of Evangelion: 1st Trailer & Peek

Rebuild of Evangelion 1st Trailer [Youtube version | LQ]

My heart stopped for a moment when I first came across this. I’m dead serious. This is beyond awesome! Much of the trailer shows a lot of what was in the original series but there are obviously some differences that we haven’t seen yet. One that which could be seen is Shamsel’s (the 4th Angel) new design. It’s hard to tell but I think Misato’s hairstyle is different from the normal but I’m not sure. I also like the sample of the new remix of Fly Me to the Moon done by Utada Hikaru (I expect some won’t like it though…). I want to hear the full version as soon as possible! Nonetheless, even the trailer is low quality the improvement in the artwork is obviously apparent. Now I have the urge to go and watch the entire series and EoE over again (for the nth time).

Don’t forget, Shin Gekijou-ban Evangeriwon hits Japanese theaters on September 1st 2007!

Summer 2007 is here! Leon’s Top Summer Season Picks!

Another season, another series of anime to browse through. This summer doesn’t have a lot of shows to overwhelm a person but there are a few that should be seen. As for myself, I’m probably going to give most things a try but will probably only stick with a few of the ones I outline here. Though, I honestly can’t say which one’s I’ll be blogging for sure since I have this odd trend of saying one thing and doing the other and an additional more of another thing. So yeah, let’s just dive into this thing but before that do remember to check out AndrewLB’s Summer 2007 wiki for a complete listing of the shows and their air dates and times.

Let’s rock.
