[ Episode 14: Maple Leaf ]

A few chapters of Ellis’ past. In other words: More delicious plot!

Now this was a wonderful episode. One of which is entirely about Ellis’ past. For much of the latter half I was in tears because of all the emotions being conveyed by Ellis for the Professor and vice versa.

We get to see Ellis growing rapidly over a period of time. Her relationship with the Professor grew each year. This is evidenced by the Professor himself. There was a time when he referred to her only as “specimen” but eventually began to call her “girl”. Rosenburg, who was present a few times in the episode, picked up on this and realized that the Professor obviously wanted Ellis for himself. Him discovering such a thing already foreshadowed a not-so-good future for the Professor and Ellis.

As we get to see more happy memories of Ellis and the Professor (along with a new full english insert song!) we close in on the day when Ellis finally told the professor that she loved him and gave him a present. Unfortunately, a car pulled up at the same time and some unidentified person exited and as the screen fades to black, gunshots are heard.

Now the question remains: Who shot the Professor? Was it Rosenburg? Or was it a lacky? There’s still some unanswered questions about the entire final scene of the Professor’s death. Then there’s the issue of why Ellis felt that she was responsible for his death (though I guess we know now why the place was lit aflame unless the killers did that themselves).

I hope the second half of El Cazador continues to roll on like this. The first half was already an enjoyable ride and I expect no less from the remaining half.

[ Episode 13: Hiding Girl ]

Get your plot on! G-G-Get your plot on!

Major plot advancement for the win! This entire episode was devoted to the plot and the revelations don’t disappoint. I’m not sure if the next episodes are going to be like this but if Noir is any indication the second half of El Cazador will probably be more plot-centric than the first half.

In this episode we find out about Ellis’ origins. In short, she was created along with many others to be new Witches in the present era. We pretty much new she was a Witch already but we didn’t exactly know how she came to be. The other revelation, which came right from LA’s mouth, is that he and Ellis are the sole survivors of those created Witches. Ellis has the magic power and LA has the superhuman strength. I suppose that order of things make sense gender-wise. Either way, Ellis still doesn’t like LA despite all of the thing she found out and wants to stay with Nadie. This action alone tells us just how attached she is to Nadie now. Speaking of Nadie, she found the slides of all the children that were created from the Witch DNA of the past. Needless to say she was disgusted when she connected those children together with what seems to be the remains of them in a tunnel she came across (this is evident in when she destroyed the slides and kept on shooting even though they were already lit aflame after the first shot). This, I think, only strengthened her resolve to protect Ellis now.

Blue Eyes also appeared in this episode, though she was mostly in a helicopter. Rosenburg was also present and met with a new character (who seems to be some sort of politician). On another note, where the hell did those guys in the masks come from? Rosenburg certainly couldn’t have sent them since he has Ricardo to protect Nadie and Ellis. Blue Eyes thought that they were from Rosenburg but that can’t be the case. Also, that strange woman who left Nadie and Ellis the car was going to shoot those masked guys and is apparently on the same side as Blue Eyes. So the question is, just who in the world sent them?

Well, whatever the case I’m looking forward to more episodes like this. More plot advancement please!

[ Episode 12: Shooting Man ]

Oh Blue Eyes~. I’m in love with you.

First and foremost, I’m quite sure I’m in love with Blue Eyes. She’s shown her true self in this episode and dear lord if she isn’t sizzling hot! xD She’s really a commanding woman from what her discussions/calls seem to suggest. There seems to be two other women that work for her but I’m not entirely sure. One of them delivered a message to her and the other dropped off a new car for Nadie and Ellis to use. Maybe they should have given Nadie a mobile phone as well lol?

Anyways, this episode is pretty action-packed. Thanks to a continuous rain of bullets from those mysterious people that showed up in the last episode. It seems like they only attack in the night from what Blue Eyes told Nadie. They managed to avoid them thanks to the Ortega’s character (lol he’s a lolicon) but will they encounter them again once nightfall comes? Probably. Probably not. It was interesting to see that Ellis seemed to be following the guidance of her rock. I’m not sure how that works though. Maybe it speaks to her?

Also, Ricardo didn’t get to follow Nadie and Ellis around this time due to Lirio being sick. The stalker LA managed to catch up to Ellis yet again. Just how he did it so fast only God knows. That guy must have the ability to sniff out Ellis’ scent or something.

[ Episode 11: Cursed Girl ]

Nastarsha is a very pretty name.

El Cazador continues to get better and better. I just love how almost every episode features a different character and their own storyline which in turn end up being focused around Ellis’ growth. This episode is definitely one of my top favorites so far. It deals with a girl named Nastarsha. She claims to have powers she doesn’t, calling herself a witch, but in reality she does have one power. The ability to read a person’s memories. It seems she went through a lot of pain as a child because of that ability though.

After the events of her being accused as a fake tide over (with some help from Ellis who helped prove to the villagers that she has powers) she sees both Ellis and Nadie off and proceeds to call a place named “White House”. I have no idea what that is but we aren’t given any more information than that. Sadly though, she’s killed after making the call but some people clothed in strange gear who were spying on her, Ellis and Nadie for quite a bit of the episode. Just who the hell are these people? Do they work for Rosenburg? Or are they related to the cloaked people who Blue Eyes seems to be involved with? Whoever they are, they certainly aren’t pulling any punches with killing people if this episode is any indication.

The music was, as always, awesome. I especially liked

Oh yes, the cat-ears thing was pretty funny and cute on most of the characters, especially Ellis and Lirio. Ricardo and LA…yeah, they should stick to their regular wardrobes. xD

[ Episode 10: Man Who Lives with an Angel ]

Oh my god! The taco song continues!

Well, now this was a very good episode. Aside from the case in this episode dealing with a former assassin and his former target who is now is wife, we get some more development on Ellis’ character. She learns about smiling which turns out some hilarious results on her part. I found it to be quite cute that she tried to mimic Antonio and Margarita’s behavior with Nadie since she considers them to be good friends. Ellis was also pretty damn good towards the end; knocking out some assassin (who came to kill Antonio and Margartia) with maracas! I swear, that girl has some scary strength in that tiny body…

Blue Eyes, easily one of my highest favorite characters in this show, was just so great in this episode. I really hope she starts to get more chunks of screen time in future episodes. She managed to get her hands on the document in Rosenburg’s office. She seems to have found some seriously dangerous information though (she mentioned that the Project had gone beyond even her expectations). It seems as if Rosenburg knew she was going to steal the document since on the last page he has a note scribbled saying “You look much better without your glasses”. Bastard, I hope Blue Eyes takes him out in the end.

Ricardo and Lirio appear yet again in this episode. Seriously, they (well, Ricardo anyways) must really be tailing Nadie and Ellis. Most likely for surveillance purposes. That assassin who tried to kill the former assassin as his wife was done in by Ricardo was well. I can only imagine that he had some outstanding debt to pay back to him or something. That’s the only reason I can come up with for killing the guy when he was already partially unconscious.

Overall, I loved this episode. The music was as awesome as usual. Especially the track that plays when serious action is about to go down. I can’t wait for the OST to surface!

[ Episode 9: Digging Girl ]

Argh, I thought the Silver Cross was a sword. D:

I guess people would call this a “filler” episode. As for me, I’d call it a sidequest. With that said, I don’t really have much to say about this episode. Iris was quite a refreshing yet funny character. I loved at Blue Eyes as well in this episode. She could barely fit through the hole in the roof (AGAIN) and then proceeded to break her own glasses after somehow not realizing they fell off of her face. True, the plot went absolutely no where in this episode and the character development didn’t go too far but personally it didn’t feel mindless neither was I bored while watching it. Overall, it was a good episode and I really wouldn’t mind one or two more of these kinds of episodes but that doesn’t mean I don’t want my plot progression episodes. Those must come first and foremost!
