D.Gray-man ep. 56

[ Episode 56: Delete ]
Holy shit! This episode was amazingly done. Everything about the confrontation between Allen and Tyki was handled perfectly in my opinion. The seiyuu added so much realism to the situation at hand, Tyki being the two-faced individual that he is and Allen obviously in pain and suffering from having his Innocence destroyed and heart opened up. Honestly, this is one of, if not the, best episode of D.Gray-man to date. Everything was done with quality in mind and the animation and especially the music did not disappoint.
When I first saw this chapter I was quite devastated and in shock and wondered what was going to happen next. Well, anime-only watchers who’ve seen the OP already know that Allen will bounce back from this 100+%. A hole in the heart? Pfft, please, that’s nothing. Destroyed Innocence and left arm? Ha, Allen will get those back and much more. However, the journey to him recovering and regaining his Innocence and powers will be anything but a simple task.
Also, with this episode it marks the end of volume 6 of the manga and the start of volume 7 (the bit that shows Fou finding Allen). Everything from here on, just like the previous 3-4 episodes, is going to be intensely awesome!

D.Gray-man ep. 55

[ Episode 55: Howl ]
The past three episodes have been amazing. The animation in them all, especially this one has been topnotch through and through. The music also contributed to all of the scenes appropriately whether it was for action or emotional affect such as dealing with Suman’s past with his family. The little arc is coming to a close now that Suman is dead. I remember this part of the story so well because, like Allen, I thought he would be able to live on but that wasn’t to be so as a result of Tyki finishing him off with his Teez. Allen is in a bad position and, as shown in the preview, is going to get pierced through the heart. If there’s one thing I love about D.Gray-man is its dark atmosphere and from here on out it’ll be that way for both sides of the struggle.

D.Gray-man ep. 54

[ Episode 54: Night's End Dawns ]
In a way, one may be able to understand why Suman didn’t want to die. At first it seemed like he wanted to just to save his own ass but then his wife and daughter also came to mind. The desire to live when you have a family should be very strong because you want to protect them for as long as you can…but he chose the wrong way to try and live on. Betraying your Innocence and your comrades won’t end in good results, especially the former since it will try to kill you. Oh well, at least Allen is still trying to save him though…things aren’t looking good. Allen’s Innocence gave out on him now because he used too much power as well. The question is: What else can go wrong?
A Noah appearing of course.

D.Gray-man ep. 53

[ Episode 53: Fallen One ]
We’ve pretty much been told how Suman Fell now. He was so afraid of dying that he made a deal with Tyki to spare his life and thus betrayed his Innocence. So, Allen was correct in his guess, especially after seeing the memories of him freaking out about not wanting to die. On a side note, Lenalee looks so good with her hair down. Though she always looks good anyways so I guess its redundant saying that.
I also must say I was surprised at the little omake at the end. I didn’t expect that at all. But man, it sure proved that Allen can eat!

D.Gray-man ep. 51

[ Episode 51: Set Sail from the Far East ]
Finally we are back with the canon! Allen, Lenalee, and the others have met up with Anita and are now heading towards Japan. With that we are headed into the best parts of the manga and man am I psyched. Up until now we’ve been having quite a bit of character development that I’ve been enjoying and now it’s time to focus on the plot. I’m not sure how far they’ll make it before they’ll have to slow down once more but until then it’s going to be wonderful experiencing the most exciting parts of the manga in motion.

[ Episode 50: Wholehearted Feelings ]
Oh man, that was a sad episode. Even after all of the struggling Mei-Ling’s Innocence was destroyed by Lulubell. Not only that but Mimi died as well. Granted she knew exactly what would happen to her if she fought while injured so it’s not really that saddening. Mei-Ling and Mimi were both decent original characters that managed to bring a smile to my face despite the sides they were on. At least Mei-Ling escaped unharmed and is back with the people she love and who love her. I must also make mention of the excellent animation quality in this episode, specifically during the Allen vs. Lulubell and Mimi fight. It was amazing to see such fluid movements and effects erupting all over the screen!
Next episode is the return of the canon story. I can hardly wait to watch!

[ Episode 49: Lulubell-sama's Bell ]
I really like this arc. I can feel the excitement of everything that’s going to go down, especially near the end with the battle of everyone vs. Mimi and the Earl visiting Lulubell to tell her to destroy Mei-Ling’s Innocence. It must be pretty hard on Mei-Ling to use that Innocence in such a raw form though since she’s getting fatigued so easily. At this point though I’m not sure how good her chances are especially with Lulubell on the move now. Things are going to end next episode and I’m looking forward to a good end of this arc.

[ Episode 48: The Reluctant Host ]
This mini-arc is quite enjoyable. Lenalee managed to get Mei-Ling to accept being an Innocence-compatible user without much damage. I was extremely surprised to see Lenalee unlock the second level of her Innocence during this episode. It doesn’t happen until a good ways into the canon story but hey I don’t have a problem with it at all. I can’t forget about the guys either. Allen and Lavi were especially hilarious coming down to the end. The final scenes with Lenalee and Mei-Ling were quite beautiful both emotionally and graphically. It’s this kind of stuff that I love to see when done right. ^__^

[ Episode 47: The Crystal Girl ]
I loved this episode for some known and unknown reasons. Maybe it’s because everyone is together again after having such a hard time trying to. Not to mention I love to see Allen and Lenalee interacting with each other.
It may also be because this episode, despite not being canon as far as the manga is concerned, gives off the familiar D.Gray-man atmosphere more than usual. The character who has been in the ED for quite some time now, Mei-Ling, finally makes her appearance. I think it goes without saying that she is someone with an Innocence. Her visions confused me slightly at first but after hearing that she was a fortune teller it made more sense. It showed Allen, Lenalee, and everyone else laid out on the ground dead. Quite odd since I doubt these Akuma can do in our heroes but nevertheless it was an interesting vision. It probably has something to do with her acceptance and rejection of her Innocence is my guess.
