CODE GEASS Lelouch of the Rebellion R2 ep. 15

[ Turn 15: World of C]

This episode sort of damaged my brain. There was so much things inside that I had to pause a few times to digest it all. The main highlight of this episode was definitely C.C. though. We’re shown a lot of her past such as how she came to be who she is now and that she once possessed Geass. I didn’t see the whole replacement thing coming though. It is interesting that it seems as if she does not wish for Lelouch to replace her. Is that evidence that perhaps she has discovered that love she could never find in her past? Perhaps, but things took a twist that was pretty hilarious despite the serious mood at the end. That is, C.C. reverting to an extremely shy and servant-like girl. Oh boy, Lelouch is going to have his trouble laid out for him.

I’m surprised that Rolo didn’t die in this episode. Lelouch had so many chances to off him but he managed to survive. Lelouch better hope that his survival doesn’t cause any problems for him in the future. A lot of people died in this episode due to Lelouch’s plan to wipe out the Geass cult. We even get to see some of the Black Knights question if what they’re doing is really right. If more things like this happen then there might be a disturbance within the OBK , especially now that Sayoko will be observing Ougi’s suspicious behavior.

First thing’s first. F*CK you Rollo. Seriously, why the hell did he kill Shirley? Just because she mentioned Nunnally? I can’t begin to imagine what sort of repercussions he’ll suffer because of this in the future. Well, that is if it is found out that he was the one responsible for her death. Lelouch is pretty damn devastated as expected. It doesn’t help that the past few episodes focused on him and Shirley getting closer and even admitting feelings for each other. What kind of emotional impact will Shirley’s death have on his actions from now on? What will he do when he eventually finds out that Rollo is responsible for her death? Hopefully these answers come sooner rather than later.

[ Turn 12: Love Attack!]

This turned out to be more than a simple “Ashford episode”. Granted I still enjoyed the silliness, especially seeing Lelouch/Sayoko run around for their livelihood. The second biggest thing to happen was the revelation of Orange’s “Geass Canceller”. How convenient! How did that thing even get made?! Well, whatever the case, Shirley has now been de-Geassed and has regained all of her memories. I can only begin to imagine what problems this will spring up. So what’s the first biggest thing to happen in this episode you ask? Why, the return of Cornelia of course! She looks even more lovely than she was one year ago and I love the way her hair looks now. I’m quite interested in finding out what she’s been doing since the end of the first season.

This was a more-than-satisfying climax to what has been an amazing arc. First off, I was thrown off entirely by finding out Sayoko was acting as Lelouch. She’s really good and will most likely be his cover for the rest of the show. I was puzzled at the scene between C.C. and Anya as well. There wasn’t any explanation given as to why they both freaked out like they did so I hope that’s at least alluded to in the upcoming episodes. It looks like we’ll be getting into more detail about the cult that C.C. once lead. It’ll be interesting to see how Lelouch comes to find it and what he does there.

Good lord. When will the awesome calm down? There hasn’t been a boring episode yet! The showdown between Lelouch and Xing Ke was pretty intense, though Xing Ke had the advantage since he knew the land better. He’s impressive but is a pretty overkill character since he possesses qualities from both Lelouch and Suzaku. Though, those qualities are restricted by his “time”. I guess he has some sort of disease and probably won’t live for much longer. One of the biggest things that occurred was Kallen being taken hostage. It doesn’t look like she’ll be saved any time soon though and that worries me.

Dammit. What’s with this constant tease-pairing of LelouchxKallen? What is it going to lead to? Kissing? Even more than that? Who the hell knows? Anyway, this episode amazed me yet again near the end when Lelouch took the Empress with a gun to her head. I still can’t believe that he did it but then again this is Lelouch. His plans almost always involve something insane. He really one-upped them though, taking advantage of their coup d’état to throw himself into the spotlight. I wonder if he and the OBK are really going to be able to gain control of the country though. Nothing is really that simple and there is sure to be an intense battle in the next episode, especially now that Xing Ke is super pissed and three of the Rounds are present. Oh and it seems like ORANGE is still alive. How the hell did that happen?

GENIUS. That’s what this entire episode is about. I know that Lelouch is brilliant with his plans but this one just blew me out of the water. Him wanting an exile for himself was pretty odd and had me thinking the whole time on what his true intentions were. Never did I expect that the order to exile Zero would lead to the exile of one million people. Or more accurately, one million Zero’s (which included a dog)! I expect that something will happen now that they’re exiled and leaving Area 11 though. The Villetta and Ougi interaction was interesting but was too short-lived. Nina’s crazy ass is still around and apparently still trying to build a nuke, this time for Schneizel. Who knows what the hell he plans on doing with that but something is likely to be blown to kingdom come near the end of the series.

Another amazing episode. It’s content such as this that makes me realize time and time again why I love this series. I enjoyed seeing Lelouch contemplate his reasons for being who he is and for a moment I almost thought that he was going to give up being Zero. Interestingly enough, he has figured out that being Zero for Nunnally only won’t just be enough any longer but rather there is another reason. Hopefully, there is more about his new reasons in the new few episodes. One scene I really enjoyed was when Kallen found Lelouch about to inject himself with Refrain. For me it was pretty powerful, especially the words she used when talking to him. Could it be that she somehow loves him in her own special way? It’s hard to tell after that slap she gave him after he attempted to kiss her lol. Ah~, the tension between those two just keeps rising and rising. There has to be a boiling point somewhere in the future. There just has to be!

Lots of catching up to do so I’ll be brief (or try to). It was painful watching Lelouch struggle in thinking what to do about Nunnally. His beloved little sister, the one who he started his rebellion for, is now being used by Brittannia and he can’t just plainly reveal himself as Lelouch from Zero’s guise. It sucked hard that he couldn’t even punch the hell out of Suzaku for trying to use Nunnally against him earlier in the episode as well. After all this, I’m not sure what he’s going to do. After pretty much screaming Nunnally’s name at the very top of his lungs, I think I’m pretty sure that his plans and/or thoughts are wavering beyond comprehension. What will Lelouch do next?
