Yeah, it’s not Christmas but it’s Urd and she’s hot as hell.

Dark House has licensed the O!MG novel, Oh! My Goddess – First End. Very interesting since I’m liking this trend of novels being licensed and released in English. I’ll be looking forward to this release in the future.

Del Ray has licensed the Pumpkin Scissors manga. I watch the anime but haven’t really seen much of the manga past the first chapter or so. However, now it’ll be easier to view it now that it has a release date in English some time in the future.

This episode continues on with the previous two involving Atl’s ‘friendly’ youi. Yuki and the other Ayakashi are determined to battle with the youi once more in an effort to pull out it’s ayagami. I found it interesting that when Yuki did try to pull it out a mass number of ayagami came forth. My guess is that it’s all of the names different worshipers have called it since the beginning of its existence.

Semi-expectedly, Yuki and fails to draw out the true ayagami and Kumo offers his help telling Yuki to find his ayagami. After imparting some wise words with Atl (who of course was freaking out that they were trying to take down her Queztal), Yuki draws Kumo’s ayagami from him and the youi eventually disappears into the heavens. Afterwards, Yuki helps Atl blend into the society…to live at a brothel for a while. That, I did not expect. But thankfully she’s not going to be doing any servicing. It was also nice to see that Queztal and Kumo didn’t return to the other world. Kumo seems to be quite a cool guy after all even if he’s dead.

Impressions/Thoughts:

This was a great episode. It was much more action-oriented than the last one and had a great score playing during the battle scenes. Definitely an improvement over the action scenes in the previous episodes. The episode starts off with Yuki, Atl and the others still at the area where Kumo had died in past. However before any of this, we’re shown a glimpse of Atl’s past and what happened to her homeland (the Spaniards invaded them). I’m guessing now that Atl can see Kumo because of her heritage as an Aztec since I wouldn’t put it past her being able to see spirits or gods.

The episode really picks up in the second half when the horse which is now a confirmed youi goes on the attack and the ayakashi give chase to engage it. By the way, Saizou’s dancing is quite beautiful and alluring even in the midst of chaos. But I have to wonder, why doesn’t she stay in the clothes she wears while dancing? She looks much prettier that way in my opinion. As the battle drags on Yuki is unable to do anything because of Atl’s constant worrying about her horse’s well-being. Later, they’re taken into custody by the magistrate and his goons but eventually get free (thanks to Kumo) to go to Atl’s aid. We’re treated to some more scenes of her past which I have to say is quite a sad story. I loved how Yuki decided to fight the youi again. He said it with such confidence that I had no other choice but to believe he’ll win. He’d better after a speech like that.

Impressions/Thoughts:

Yuki yet again amazes the audience with his performances. And with a weapon made out of his own name. It’s an unorthodox weapon but at least it took the form of an axe. This episode focuses mainly on the accusations brought forth of Yuki being a murderer. By the way, I found the whole thing about samurais being able to kill lower class people and apologizing afterwards (this all occurred in the Edo period) very interesting. Of course there was a protocol to the act but still I find it interesting how one could’ve been killed for merely disrespecting a samurai (makes me wonder if stepping on their foot would’ve brought such actions).

Anyways, back to the episode Yuki is shown speaking with the guy only he can see, Kumoshichi. I’m not sure if Yuki is alright in the head or not but this person seems real enough as he does initiate conversations himself. But then we’re thrown a twist, even Atl (the girl that Yuki saved) can see Kumoshichi. Just what is this ability she has? Maybe she’s an exorcist? Back to Yuki, it seems as if the person he killed was none other than Kumo. Though I have to say it sucks that he both doesn’t seem to remember killing him and that the others couldn’t see Kumo. I wouldn’t blame them if they thought he was crazy for a while. Anyways, we’re treated to a nice flashback of when Yuki and Kumo were buddies in the past. I found their meeting pretty hilarious, with them beating the hell out of each other. I found the flashback to be quite informative as well. Yuki in the past was quite the risk-taker (as a result of him being afraid of some day being sent back to “that” world) and had certain moments of not being himself (for example, when he tried to force himself on o-Shino). Of course doing that to o-Shino eventually pissed Kumo off and a fight was initiated between the two. Even after sabotaging Yuki’s sword, however, Kumo still lost and died as a result. So in the end Yuki finally remembers what happened and the episode ends with Atl arriving at the scene at which Kumo died, and she and Yuki witness Kumo appearing. Is there going to be a showdown of some sort?

Interesting episode. Yuki meets that strange girl from the end of episode 3 yet again. Throughout the episode though, they refer to her as a foreigner repeatedly. I guess it’s the green eyes as well as the dark skin (I couldn’t really tell her skin was that dark at first). Anyhow, the youi in this arc seems a little difficult to identify but it seems like it might be the horse that girl has. It’ll probably be a said departure when it has to be banished (if at all) but hey, you can’t exactly have those things walking around like a normal occurrence everyday (or at least that’s what we’ve been taught so far).

I also find it interesting that the government are using Shogun…youi? Smells pretty bad if you ask me. But either way I want to see episode 5 since Yuki has now used that tattoo he always hid to form another word-weapon (I love saying that).

The Run-down:

- The girl Yuki meets is a foreigner, and fifteen years old.
- Yuki strangely isn’t interested in changing his class.
- Yuki is attempting to get his tattoo removed.
- After failing to draw on the youi, Yuki uses his tattoo to form his name into an axe. Awesome.

This is seriously messing up some people’s sexual order. On another note, Saizou is actually a woman. She’s small but in this episode she showed a bit of her female figure and surprisingly didn’t look like a little boy.

It’s good to see that Yuki decided to became an ayashi. After all, we knew he would if only because he couldn’t forget the taste of the youma meat. Though, I don’t really blame him for considering the alternative of becoming that woman’s husband.
