Bakuman ch. 8

If this is really how Shueisha is, that’s pretty damn hilarious. But of course, I do have my suspicions. Not every Jump editor is gonna be like Hattori, but I think the way new manga is found might just be like this in the real Shueisha building. From the looks of it, the two seem to be in business so now they’re gonna have to work some more. That untapped potential of theirs is oozing out soon, I hope.

Bakuman ch. 6

[ Page 6: The Best and the Worst ]

What better place to get your manga ideas serialized than in Jump? Well, I can actually think up TONS of other, much better, publications. But since this is a Jump title itself, obviously they want to put some self-promotion in there. Read more

Bakuman ch. 4

[ Page 4: Parent and Child ]

DNA is crazy shit, all right. Somehow we saw this coming a mile away, but now knowing that Uncle Mashiro was in love with Azuki’s mom (and who can blame him) it’s kind of funny that Moritaka is following in his footsteps. I just don’t want to see him end up like him and lose Azuki the way Uncle Mashiro lost Azuki’s mother. Now it looks like Moritaka’s getting serious about manga. Let’s see how the Saiko + Shujin combo will make it through. Read more

Zashiki Onna [Manga Review]

Story & Art: Minetaro Mochizuki
Genre: Drama, Horror, Psychological
Status: Complete (11 chapters)

Creepy onna is CREEPY.

I picked this manga upon a whim. After all, it was only 11 chapters. I found it interesting that it was done way back in 1993 and was curious as to what it would bring to the table, especially being a horror. Not until after I read Zashiki Onna that I found out that this is highly regarded as the scariest manga ever in magazine horror specials and that it was a bestseller. Well, I was pleasantly surprised with the way things turned out.

Bakuman ch.3

[ Page 3: Pens and Names ]

Another well-rounded chapter afoot. The dynamic duo that is Shujin and Saiko are starting to get serious on their project after witnessing Moritaka’s uncle’s studio. Heck, that place was pretty huge, considering the huge wall of figures and even the 3-bedroom-turned-to-one. Read more

Bakuman ch. 2

[ Page 2: The Fool and the Wise Man ]

Second chapter is over 20 pages? Goodness gracious, how awesome is this? So it’s only just started but we’re first getting a look at our three stars here. Shujin (I’ll just call him Shujin from now on) has an interesting view on Azuki and Moritaka. It’s funny how those two see each other as being so smart and stuff. It’s a strange philosophy but knowing where this is coming from it’s not all too surprising. I really loved the scene where the two were heading to the nurse’s room and Azuki was wondering if she should’ve done the same. Even in the nurse’s room it was pretty funny how they were conversing.
