see you on the other side, halcyon days

byebii2

It’s been nearly three years since Kita ze Inbou! was born. I still find it hard to believe we’ve made it so far. On top of that even though we lost one member along the way we gained three more companions. Thankfully we all have our own unique tastes when it comes to anime, manga, and other things so you’ll likely never see the same opinion repeated where it counts (our second annual awards is a perfect example). We’d like to continue providing such content for as long as we can.

Anime Inbou Awards 2008, pt. 4 ~ oshimai

header4

I couldn’t think of a better way to end this then calling this last part the end, so you get your oshimai instead. This final entry has a whopping eight categories so this is where the best of the best lie. Our focus here is on the story and direction of the show and overall how it was handled in the end. Cheers to 2008, but let’s hope 2009 is even better! Read more

Anime Inbou Awards 2008, pt. 3 ~ music

header3

Third round and this time, it’s all about the music. You can have anime with voices, but once you cue the music at the right time, you get some pretty amazing results. Kudos to all the composers and arrangers, and the vocalists for all their hard work! Firstly, we’d like to get our Top 10 Opening Themes and Ending Themes outta the way. Read more

Anime Inbou Awards 2008, pt. 2 ~ character

header2

The second part of AIA ‘08 focuses now on what makes a show unique and that is the numerous amount of characters, each with their own personalities, preferences, hobbies, you name it. They give life to the show and they are the stars that get seiyuu their money in their wallets. For this year, we’ve added a seiyuu of the year, for male and female, because we just love our seiyuu and they deserve our kudos. Read more

Anime Inbou Awards 2008, pt. 1 ~ genre

header1

Every year, fresh from the Land of the Rising Sun, an overflow of anime in all directions surges out, and we, as technophiles, catch those torrents. In the year of 2008, there was quite many hits and misses. There’s no in-betweens, no so-sos, no kindas, sortas, or littles. Well… maybe… but I’d be lying if I said 2008 was failure. While there were quite a number of mundane shows (mostly from the mundane summer season, which is, by default, traditionally mundane anyway), we can look past them and say we got some good shows out there. So which ones did we find awesome? Which ones were the best? Which ones made us laugh the most? Made us cry the most? Which parts made us shit bricks? All that and more answered when we reveal our picks from this year. A year ago, it was mostly just Leon and I, but the number of writers have doubled, and frankly, that does sound like too much, but with this, you all can see just how diverse our picks are. Variety can be a good thing sometimes. Let’s see just how much we agree and disagree, shall we? Read more

My legend started in the 12th Century

Osu~ What’s going on, everybody?

I’m the new guy on the block. I got into blogging somewhat recently and thought it would be good idea to bring my legend here to KzI, which I’ve followed for a while now. So through prestige and bribery, I found my place as a new writer here.

A lot of great shows this season and for starters I’ll be blogging Clannad ~After Story~, Yozakura Quartet, and Xam’d: Lost Memories. I’m thinking about doing a jdrama in the future as well, but I’ll just stick with those three for now. I look forward to reading your comments~

Btw my name is from Outlaw Star. Please go watch it if you haven’t yet. It’s a classic. :3

You can read more about me on the About Us page. \o/

You can put lipstick on this blog… and it’ll still be a blog

Along with spankin’ new icons, we got a new banner finally up! In case you’re wondering, it’s a slice of images from the Doubt manga. No, not Doubt!!, just Doubt. If you know the story then you can see how I chose this style for the banner. Hope it doesn’t hurt your eyes too much.

Again, I apologize for this delay because we’re a bunch of lazy bastards with only time to be shmidiots and audiophiles. Speaking of which, I’ve juiced up the jukebox with an all new playlist. I’m not sure if anyone even uses it, but it’s a good way for introducing visitors to new music.

On the Mini Jukebox, we have PURE-WHITE GIANT TINY GLASTONBURY, a remix of two themes used in No More Heroes’s in-game of the same name. Is that Hatsune Miku I hear? Maybe it is! There should be nine tracks on the new jukebox but it might be a bit messed up right now as I can only see the first four tracks showing up. I’m sure I did the coding right too, otherwise the new songs shouldn’t be online at all.

Also, a new poll is up, reflecting the sleuth of awesome new shows we got. Since there are so many, I’d decided that at most three votes should do. Well, that about wraps it out. Hope you guys enjoy the new banner. I’m open to any feedback. Questions, comments/compliments, concerns, etc. And with that, look forward to some fall season show entries (not late this time around, I hope!)

EDIT:
The jukebox should be fully working now. Apparently I messed up the syntax on one of the lines, missing a whitespace. Kind of funny because I’m learning about C++ right now, and that’s probably the only subject I’m not fully motivated in doing right now in college. But, anyway, instead of the nine songs I wanted, I had to take one off. Now you can enjoy twice the music!

Blog changes and updates

Over the past few days I’ve been doing a little tweaking to the site and through that a new system has been born. I’m sure some, if not most, of you are aware of the tag function in wordpress. After spending some time with it and realizing that the sidebar was becoming insanely long, I thought the move to using a tag based system was the best thing that could happen. This reduces the need to create a new category for every new anime, manga, or anything else and still allows for them to be properly labeled. Those who were used to clicking the specific series/category of their choice need not worry because at the top of the page is a new entry called “Tag Cloud” that indexes all existing tags so you can jump right to the all entries for “Macross FRONTIER”, “CODE GEASS”, “BLEACH”, “Suzumiya Haruhi”, and others (and there’s always the search bar too).

Looking at the sidebar you’ll also notice that the blogroll has shrinked quite a bit. Don’t worry though! I haven’t deleted anyone but rather I’ve collapsed it and added links to the full blogroll next to the Tag Cloud and also another link in the shrunken blogroll itself. This will make things much more tidy and organized as the blogosphere continues to grow.
