[ Episode 17: Summer Time ]

Nice. Liked how we didn’t have to go through most of Tomoya’s emo phase. Last episode was pretty depressing already. So we start off, five years later. Tomoya has become a workaholic to keep his mind off things and then on his days off he basically gambles, smokes, and drinks to pass the time. Sound familiar, Tomoya? Seeing at how he’s not exactly father material at that point, Ushio is dropped off to live with “Akki” and Sanae. Tomoya is a bit of an asshole right now, but now as bad as I thought it was going to be. His attitude does provide us with some hilarious moments actually. When Ushio comes back to tell Tomoya that she used the toilet by herself, he’s like “Don’t brag about it. I can do it by myself too.” Then she made a sad face and I almost died from moe overload.
Ushio is like having a little Nagisa clone running around the house. Except not dango obsessed… yet. I was mindfucked when Ushio started skipping as the ED transitioned in at the last scene. I always thought that was Nagisa, even though I could never imagine her actually skipping so cheerfully. Also this is the first time that the ED song actually fitted in with this show. It has always been so out of place before, especially last week’s episode. So I was surprised they got it right this time. Maybe they were waiting for this moment. 3 comments

Same with the ED thing. So it was actually Ushio the whole time. Still, it really didn’t fit in well with the majority of episodes.
Another great episode. Also Gene, I have to admit I laughed at the inclusion of your “Onii-chan! This is dangerous…” picture!
