Shikabane Hime: Aka ep. 8

[ Episode 8: Tranquility ]
What an oddly titled episode.

Wow. I can honestly say I didn’t see what happened in this episode coming at all. Isaki got snuffed out by the punks he roughed up in the previous episode which in turn caused Minai go from a Shikabane Hime to just a normal Shikabane. It was pretty heartbreaking to see her breakdown like that and especially so because her former comrades didn’t seem to want to kill her at all. Add in the fact that she was getting quite close to Oori and it was a near-flawless tearful event. I really thought that she and Oori were going to be connected as priest and Shikabane Hime until she is shown dead at the very place he works. Man, that was pretty damn sad. It didn’t help much when Oori decided to call her phone either which made her death and his pain seem all the more real. Now I have no other choice but to wonder if Keisei is going to die. If he does, then that means Makina will suffer the same fate Minai experienced the moment Isaki died. I guess that’s where Oori would come in if it does happen…

This was a very good setup episode, since it suddenly makes sense why Minai was introduced and why they had to fight Mitsuyoshi.
I thought it was funny how for all the talk of how shikabane hime have to stick close and shield their priests, Itsuki, Shika, and Makina all feel comfortable leaving their priests far behind for extended periods of time. I guess Shuuji really sucked that bad as a priest.
I was surprised to hear it implied that Makina can slowly regenerate her arm without the power of Keisei’s hugs. Maybe hugs just recover HP faster?
