Yozakura Quartet ep. 11-12 [END] + Review

HIIIIZUUUUUMIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII

[ Episode 11: Your Front ]
Fuck yeah, shota god. You actually did something cool for once. And whoa, an actual fight scene between Kyousuke and that other guy. It was pretty short, but sweet nonetheless. But where the fuck did Touka come from? Did Hige (the bearded guy) seriously drive all the way back to the Chamber of Elders to pick her up because she was worried? It’s like the writers are forcing her screen time for the big finale.
I didn’t really get the whole Tokyo Tower thing. Did Enjin just decide to go for a stroll or was that actually relevant to the plot? Well whatever the case, he’s doing his thing now with the Nana-gou finally blooming and all. Good thing Hime managed to fully recover and get a weapon upgrade just in the nick of time. Final episode here we go!

[ Episode 12: Sakura Petals Flutter ]
Fuckkkk. Touka was actually involved in the combat this episode. I see why the writers brought her in, albeit forced. Have to say I thought the whole 3 vs 1 thing was cheap. Screw team work.
A big lol wut @ Hime’s dragon lance.. doing…. ummm.. that thing with the Nana-gou. You know… Because I don’t. I had the same wtf face as Enjin when the whole Nana-gou problem was solved with the increase of fabulous in that lance.
The animation quality was at the series’ best. Looked very nice, though the action sequences were pretty meh. The epilogue was pretty laid-back, but unsatisfying. I feel like the characters are the same as they were in the beginning of the show. I know there was development in the series (I watched it afterall), but it wasn’t carried over in the ending. Like they had character development with the episodes featuring Kotoha just for the sake of having character development.

[ Final Thoughts ]
Story: 5/10
There wasn’t really a theme with this and I feel they should’ve emphasized the youkai/human relationship more. A lot of the youkai/human conflict stemmed from omg youkai abuse. They had a unique setting so it’s a shame they didn’t make use of it better. One of the plot elements was Akina having to choose between Gin or the town. It was pretty intriguing at first but they dwelled too much on it and it ended up becoming annoying. You basically won’t watch this for the story and there will be a lot of lol wuts which don’t get explained.
Cast: 7/10
The cast had potential and was probably at its best during the slice of life moments. When the plot kicks in, everybody loses their charm to revert to character archetypes. The main villain and his sidekick were pretty shallow and their defeats were pretty shallow as well so I guess it fit. Hime is still mai waifu though. Tsun tsun dere tsun dere tsun tsun~
Animation: 7/10
Decent overall. After seeing sola, I was expecting a lot more from Nomad. Most of the fights were lackluster so it didn’t get to shine there. One of the reasons I was attracted to the show was the character designs. I don’t what it is exactly, but to me they look really nice and have a warm feeling to them.
Music: 8/10
Catchy OP and pleasant ED. Very interesting choice of BG music which features a lot of guitar rock. One song that particularly stood out was “DON’T HAVE ANSWERS” which really fit well with its scenes. Even if you didn’t like the show itself, chances are you’ll still check out the great and unique OST. I recommend “TELL ME I’M ALIVE”.
Enjoyment: 7/10
If somebody were to ask me if he/she should watch Yozakura Quartet, my response would probably be “Sure, if you have nothing else to watch.” It’s not bad, though in particular it’s not good. Like I’ve said before, it’s decent. If you’re bored and looking to kill time with a short series, Yozakura Quartet will keep you entertained for the time being.
[ Overall series review: 64/100*]

Did the Sister ever fight?
The Show had potential, though, but it was just to fricken short.
No, the Sister didn’t fight. She tried to be important but the shota kept blocking her.
It’s a shame because she had the most interesting fighting style.
She actually seemed like she could fight on her feet without any angst involved.
