Kita ze Inbou! - キタぜ陰謀!

There is substance in 2-D

Question: how many of you would like to marry a 2D character? No doubt plenty of otaku would want to have the hottest anime babe as their waifu, but Taichi Takashita has stepped it up a notch and wants the Japanese government to allow legal marriage to two-dimensional characters. According to Yahoo! News, the man has gathered 1000+ signatures for his online petition. I commend Takashita for his bold yet unorthodox move. If he does get one million signers, I wonder what will happen. Seeing as how even the Prime Minister of Japan loves manga, it’d be really interesting to see if this goes anywhere. For now, it looks like the otas have to stick with their precious dakimakura. Along with him, true-believers have expressed their beliefs for 2D substance with their testimonies. This one somehow sounded a little like Haruhi’s famous self-intro speech:

“I am no longer interested in three dimensions. I would even like to become a resident of the two-dimensional world.”

“However, that seems impossible with present-day technology. Therefore, at the very least, would it be possible to legally authorize marriage with a two-dimensional character?”

Sankaku Complex translated one of the other comments as well:

“I’ve been married to Arcueid of Tsukihime for five years now. I’ve no doubt that I want to spend the rest of my life with her. As someone who lives in two dimensions, I’d very much like to support this measure!”

    LOL.

Takumi was the first person my mind wandered to when I saw this story earlier.

This is a practice that should not be encouraged.

Hell, they’re not even waiting around for the persocons to be built.

Definiently should rethink things before he tries to change what marriage is for everyone.

I doubt it will go well but…why do they want it to be “legal”?

It’s not like the character can give consent either lol.

It’s the same with same sex couples. They want to feel legitimate and accepted as normal. The guy in Chobits at least knew he was a freak and went through with the ceremony (and funeral) without caring what anyone else thought.

Come to think of it, how many times do you think a Rozen Maiden had marriage proposed to her throughout the centuries?

The world is going to end. It’s true that there’s no limit for stupidity.
