[ Episode 4: With the Same Smile as that Day ]

Sorry that this is a bit late. Originally, I wanted to get this post out by Saturday at the latest but SS-Eclipse was no where in sight. Eventually I gave in to Sprocket who I thought were great as well.
I think I can say without any doubts that this is my favorite episode of Clannad to date. The last scene with the Tomoya/Sunohara flashbacks combined with Tomoya’s narrative was powerful because by the last shot, I found myself smiling as well.
That was the first time I began laughing when I came to this school. I figured I could be an idiot with this guy. The day I first met Sunohara. We hung out together ever since that day. And even now, we were laughing.
It’s been a while since I got that unbelievable feeling of satisfaction after seeing an anime episode so props to Key and KyoAni. And I know I can relate to those lines in some way which probably contributed to that feeling, especially since I just finished high school this year. Oh the nostalgia~
So Misae is up next. I actually played her route in the visual novel though apparently I didn’t finish it correctly and I missed a lot of flashbacks. >.> Thankfully, it’s getting animated so I’ll get to see what I missed out on. I’m also curious to see how Tomoya will interact with Misae in the next arc. He probably won’t be infatuated with her so they might change a few things.

I think he should have at least thought about fighting for Sanae, even if only for a second before running away.
Yeah, this was the most powerful episode by far. KyoAni did a really outstanding job with this. And that last scene, very much faithful to CG from the visual novel.
