Oh god, Michiko is so @*&#ing hot!

The opening sequence is totally awesome and possibly the best one of the season. I loved the colors and I was wow’d at the flashes of Michiko’s belly tattoos, among other things. Hana was rockin’ it too without a shirt! I’m loving Paraiso and I await the day the single is released (I haven’t been able to find a date yet). The ending song, Best Friend, is very nice as well.

So, how much did I like this premiere? A lot really! I’m extremely intrigued by Michiko who, despite her drop-dead gorgeous appearance, is a pretty rugged. I imagine that might have something to do with the reason why she was imprisoned. Perhaps even her tattoo, which reads LLBDD, may be related to why she was there but even if it isn’t I’m reasonably sure that its meaning will be revealed later on as well as how its connected to her past (or am I just over thinking a simple tattoo? ). I don’t really have to say about Hana’s former situation of abuse though. They were pretty much disgusting human beings that shouldn’t be allowed anywhere near children and I imagine the worthless father and mother are the main reason as to why their other two kids turned out to be little demons. Thankfully, we very likely won’t be seeing them again for the rest of the story.

When I think about this show, my mind ends up lingering to El Cazador for some obvious reasons. One such reason is between both stories follow two female leads: one of which is strong gun-toting woman and the other girl who is physically weak but skilled in other areas. The settings are also similar with Michiko to Hatchin apparently taking place in Brazil (note the Portuguese being used and such). Overall, both shows managed to grasp my attention from their first episodes and with their interesting leads. While I’m not sure if it was the best first episode of the season (I’m still sorting on my thoughts on that), I’m pretty sure that it ranks high on my list. I’m pretty excited in seeing how the story progresses and what sorts of new characters will appear, especially with manglobe behind it.
