GA-REI -zero- ep. 2

[ Episode 2: Manifestation of Hatred ]

OMG Yomi! Kaguya-chan!

WTF? I’m absolutely astounded here. Not only is the cast all-new this week, but it contained at least two of the main characters from the manga: Kaguya (the female lead in the manga) and Nori (Yomi’s fiancé). Yes, the girl with the sword at the end of the episode one has officially been confirmed as Isayama Yomi, a main antagonist in the manga. I had my suspicions at the end of the last episode but it was undeniable this time around. Hell, she even has her spiritual beast, Nue, with her! I have absolutely no idea where GA-REI is headed anymore after this episode. Why? Well, apparently both Nori and Kaguya were killed off by Yomi. WTF? That can’t be possible. Nimura Kensuke hasn’t even made an appearance yet to meet up with Kagura…but at the rate things are going, it might not happen. This may very well be an alternate retelling of the original manga given all that has happened in the span of two episodes.

Needless to say, GA-REI -zero- is easily one of my top favorites of the season. It continues to surprise me with its excellent use of its soundtrack and the more-than-great directing. The seiyuus are doing a marvelous job, especially Mizuhara Kaoru (Yomi). Kagura’s voice was unexpected (Chihara Minori) but I suppose that if this is her slightly younger and inexperienced self…then it fits her perfectly. Still, my mind is just in a mess after seeing this episode and I’m dying to see the third episode now. I love when a show is able to have me itching for days on end for a new episode and GA-REI -zero- is pulling that off flawlessly. I’m undeniably confused as hell but that just makes me want to see where the creators of this adaptation are planning to take this series. Oh, and so far it looks like Yomi is the main character. Given how things have turned out so far…who can argue against that?

It’s great, I like how it’s unpredictable so far, I’m not a follower of the manga but the anime just looks outstanding until now.

Jealousy is awesome! Suddenly I realized that all those characters that annoyed me in the first episode were just throwaway characters and my rating for this show has gone way up. I’m not sure that Kagura is dead yet, since everyone else who got killed got very clearly killed with lots of blood.

I doubt that Kagura is dead since she is supposed to be one half of main leads.

I wonder if Kensuke is going to make an appearance though? It seems unlikely given the current time-frame but with the surprises that we’ve seen so far, it’s hard to tell what they’ll do.

What the hell? I just watched the first episode and loved it, but then they ruined it for me by killing Tooru and Natsuki.

I don’t follow the manga, so I’m completely new to the series and I was loving it until that happened.

So are they all gone in episode two? Tooru and Natsuki were <3 ;______; Surely they’ve got SOME kind of involvement in the series apart from just being throw-aways.

Guess I’m off to grab episode two now.

Yomi is the only true main character. <3<3<3

I’m dead serious. She’s offing all the non-manga canon characters. There ain’t no dragon balls or magic to revive you here. If you’re not canon, you’re DEAD. :P
Well, Nori may be an exception…not sure about Kagura yet but she IS the female lead in the manga so….

I liked Natsuki and Tooru, hope they get back somehow :<
