Casshern Sins ep. 2

[ Episode 2: The World is Filled with the Voices of Death ]

Ore wa, Casshern.

I never expected to fall for Casshern Sins this hard. After a stellar first episode, the second continues the brilliance that makes me sit on the edge of my seat and lean just a little bit closer to my screen. Everything starts from where the first left off with the pink-haired, uh, guy/girl talking to Casshern about how he is the cause of the ruin and that it’s pointless to kill him if he doesn’t remember what he did. Okay…so why not tell him then? It’s easier than way, pink-haired genius. Anyway, we’re shown a group of robots who are accepting the ruin and living out the rest of their days peacefully. Enter Casshern who helps them out, particularly two lovers, twice and inevitably ends up massacring all of them. Why’s that? Well, the moment they heard his name pretty much all of them, except for Wrench and the awesome Friender, went into zombie mode. I find it quite interesting that they reacted in such a way when they initially gave off the impression that they wholeheartedly accepted that they would die. Then, they show their true colors the moment Casshern reveals himself all because of the ridiculous rumor that they will live/survive if they eat him. If that isn’t a reflection of humanity then I don’t know what is.

I’m curious as to how frequently Casshern is going to find himself in these kinds of situations though and I also want to know what the hell happened to him near the end. Dude went totally ballistic once he got surrounded, which is understandable, but he seemed to be a little out of control. Does that apparent berserker mode have anything to do with what happened in the past with Luna? If so, why does it happen to him? Also, what’s with the big robot that walks around talking to himself and to other robots randomly? Who is with me in thinking that Friender is an awesome dog to have? Well, at least it’s obvious to see where Mega Man and Rush got their partnership from! Like before, I’m already starving for the third episode and I’m particularly interested in seeing how what seems to be one of the last humans on the planet is able to survive on a dying planet.

She did tell him what he did. She probably doesn’t know why he did it. And she believes the world is already dead. There’s really no reason to kill him if she couldn’t get any personal satisfaction out of it considering.

Obviously she told him…more than once. What I’m referring to is exactly what he did. “You killed Luna.” and “You caused the ruin.” isn’t enough.

You can tell me for days on end that I’m responsible for something I don’t remember but if you don’t give specific descriptions or clues then its pointless.

Well, she might not know the circumstances exactly, and the results should speak for themselves. Rather than looking at her as one to provide answers, consider her own mentality and character. She’s as enigmatic as anything or anyone else in the show, and I’m looking forward to learning more about her.

I’m getting a retainer/loyal follower vibe from her, and she has a fairly morbid sense of humor considering the way she wore that corpse in the first episode. She’s very emotional, yet she’s not crazy or irrational. I could very well understand her apparent stalking of Casshern as her trying to find purpose with her own life. Killing him is meaningless, but it may be all she has.
