[ Episode 1: aoi jou ( aoi nou e ) ]

My brain has officially exploded after watching a completely action-packed and epic first episode. GA-REI -zero- wasn’t what I expected it to be. I’m a fan of the manga and at first I assumed that the anime would be following that. Then a few weeks back it was reported that the anime adaptation would feature a new cast of characters and have its own original story. Suffice to say I was disappointed because I was looking forward to seeing some of my favorite characters from the manga such as Kagura, Kensuke, and Shizuru. Despite that I decided that since it was going to be based on Segawa Hajime’s work, I was going to watch it regardless and hope for the best. Well I was completely blown away and left with a feeling of satisfaction.

The directing was excellent and the soundtrack was pretty damn awesome. The production values are obviously pretty high and it shows from start to finish. The most impressive element so far though are the characters. Tooru and Natsuki seem to be the central main characters here and I like them both so far. The others are great as well but after seeing the end of the episode…I don’t know what to think. The last time I saw an ending as messed up as that was in Shigofumi’s first episode and GA-REI –zero- trumps it hard. I can’t even begin to imagine what the hell happened at the end. Was it all just a dream? Or perhaps a training module? What if all the main characters really were killed and this first episode is perhaps the finale? Alright, maybe that last one isn’t quite likely but it would be pretty damn shocking if it was. Simply put, GA-REI -zero- had a really strong showing and I’m craving for more already. Please bring on episode ASAP!

Its simple, next episode the guy will probably be resurrected by some demon and given powers, e.g. Spawn maneuver.

Well.. I too, was expecting kensuke since he didn’t show up. But if you watch it till the end, you can see kagura is there. Though i was a bit confused coz she went around killing normal people

Karry’s theory sounds plausible, but I think we’ll probably get a ton of flashback episodes to see why the nodachi girl is on the opposite side now.

Really nice premiere. Didn’t expect that really. I mean, they ARE the main characters when you take into a account the promotional images. They’re all probably alive though, just got to see how they survive.

Oh yeah, the music was awesome too! I looked it up, and Agematsu Noriyasu from the Elements Garden music composes them! That guy is pretty much the man of the company for all his awesome works.
