[ Episode 1: At the End of the World ]

My experience with Casshern only goes as far back as the live-action movie that came out a few years ago. Time has withered away at exactly what the plot was about but I do recall enjoying it quite a bit. So as a result, my interests piqued when I first heard of a Casshern anime series being developed. I didn’t know what to expect and that fueled my excitement even more. From the start, I do remember both Casshern and Luna from the live-action film. In that they were lovers but here their relationship isn’t quite clear as yet. Not to mention it is suggested that Casshern is the one who killed Luna and brought to world into ruin. That right there conjures up huge mass of mystery. Something I happen to like a lot. There’s also someone present who appears to know him and wants to kill him for killing Luna. I have a suspicion that he/she may be responsible for the rumor going around that if Casshern is eaten then the ruin will stop.

The action was pretty well done and my eyes were glued to the screen every second. I await the more challenging battles though as the fodder weren’t really putting up any kind of fight at all. It looks like that may happen in the next episode. The soundtrack so far is great stuff. Pretty much all the pieces heard fit Casshern’s tone perfectly, especially during battles. The OP and ED themes are very nice. I particularly like Reason and I’m looking forward to the single for that in the future. The character designs are awesome and I can’t wait to see just how far Umakoshi Yoshihiko’s vision can go. For now though, I’m craving more plot and I want to see more of Casshern’s world and exactly how the people are coping with a dying world.
