Bakuman ch. 8

If this is really how Shueisha is, that’s pretty damn hilarious. But of course, I do have my suspicions. Not every Jump editor is gonna be like Hattori, but I think the way new manga is found might just be like this in the real Shueisha building. From the looks of it, the two seem to be in business so now they’re gonna have to work some more. That untapped potential of theirs is oozing out soon, I hope.
The end result is very nice. Fate has it that Moritaka and Azuki be seated next to each other. What are those two lovebirds gonna do now? Must they talk to each other after all? I feel like I wanna laugh at his predicament too.
+ hilarious Jump editor, a bit of background on Akito
- probably just me, but I felt the art was a bit off this week, or perhaps Hattori’s face looked intimidating

The editor that the guys met was pretty damn funny looking. Aside from that though, it was interesting to see what seems to be a real glimpse into Shueisha and their selection process. It probably isn’t exactly as how it was portrayed in this chapter but I can imagine that there are a few editors like Hattori and others who probably aren’t as friendly or open-minded. Saiko and Shuji seem to at least have their toes into the business now and I await to see what the results will be for the monthly competition now that their manuscript has been entered. Speaking of which, I’m beginning to wonder if we’ll ever get to meet this Eiji guy. He’s been mentioned more than a few times already so it wouldn’t be completely out of the question.
Oh, and the ending of the chapter was pretty hilarious. I certainly didn’t expect Saiko and Azuki to be sitting right next to each other and Shujin pretty much expressed my reaction to the whole scene fully. What effect will this have on their relationship? Will they finally exchange emails? When will we see Azuki’s mom in all her glory again? Hopefully we get more details on those questions and even more as Bakuman progresses!
