Lucky☆Star ep. 15

[ Episode 15: I Can't Suddenly Change ]
Sannen B-gumi? Kuroi-sensei!
Wow, what a great way to start the episode off. So the girls went to go see Suzumiya Haruhi no Gekisou, leaving Konata a bit speechless after absorbing in all of what just happened. Events will really do that, but this one really moved her. I thought it was really sweet of Kagami to switch seats with Konata so that she could see Hirano Aya perform. BTW, that concert is indeed good, if you ever seen it. If not, and you’re a Haruhi fan, might wanna check it out. The part where Tsukasa mentioned she liked the MC made me rofl.
The scene right after where Konata coughs up sakura petals (parodying Da Capo) cracked me up. I actually enjoyed the girls talking about the cold weather. While discussing the conditions during certain months, there’s this focus on the girls and them shivering to the cold. Rubbing hands together for warmth and all that, I thought that was a nice touch. Kagami was the only girl not freezing from the cold. How does she do it? Because she’s Kagami after all!

Looked like it wasn’t just the girls trying to adjust to the weather. Konata’s dad Soujirou got a cold so he goes outside wearing a mouth mask and some goggles, which… only makes him more suspicious. I loved seeing Yui catch him while out though. A celery stick represents her authority well.
April Fools is one of my favorite times of the year, so I was glad they did something like this. Konata fooled Kagami about doing her homework. Should’ve known better than to believe something so impossible! Even Kuroi-sensei in on the act was hilarious, scaring the crap out of Konata. The cutest bit came from Tsukasa when she lied about lying to anyone. Okay, I think even she confused me right there too but I’ll forgive her this time.
There was a scene that parodied Haruhi where Kyon asks Yuki about the book she’s reading. In this case, Soujirou asked Konata about what she was reading. She monotonously answered “Unique.” On that note, you can see that Konata has a Live Alive Haruhi figure on her bookshelf! Going back to the scene here, Konata really knows how to give out of a talk, especially for remarriage. Konata backfired her dad good.

I just got to love the Hiiragi family every time they’re seen watching game shows. Their reactions are totally amusing and it’s great seeing how they interact. When they’re sure of the answer, they say it proudly but they keep silent when they don’t know the answer. Awkward atmosphere, as Kagami suggests.
Speaking of her, I felt really bad for her after finding out she was in a different class than Konata and the others again. Even sadder seeing her hiding her feelings about it from the girls. She’s been wanting to be with her sister and friends for so long but she can’t seem to win them all. At least she still has her two other friends, who really do seem like part of the background.

As if the Da Capo-ness didn’t stop, more imagery of Konata in Da Capo’s CG poses. Not bad actually, but seeing that male she was with was a little wack. I think Konata is one of the most carefree characters all around. Nonstop TV and gaming through the morning. I think I should follow Miyuki’s route and sleep in earlier. That really does help but I’m never so tired out to fall asleep right away. The last bit was very priceless when Konata, still up after 2 AM, logs online and finds that Kuroi-sensei is still up. She comments that she’s looking forward to seeing Konata tomorrow. That ain’t good, lol. Hold up, is that MSN Messenger I see she’s using? In any case, overall it was a splendid, splendid episode.
Well, even Akira April Fooled Shirashi into thinking he’d be out of the show from now on, or was it really true after all? Who knows? Well, the following episode after Akira supposedly gets a live concert. Something to look forward to? The ending was rather bleak, but I think it was because it started too late. So it was Shiraishi’s own rendition of the love legend song called Koi no Minoru Densetsu. Hearing the rest of the song, in full recoding, is really one of the best damn things though.
