Lucky☆Star ep. 13

[ Episode 13: Delicious Day ]
Rice cake goes whee~
Was it just me, or was Tsukasa totally blank for the first several scenes of the episode? Aside from a couple of instances, you can clearly see her with a blank face.
Well, moving on to the show, the girls are in much heated conversation involving traditional customs during New Year’s Eve, including more food! New Year’s is always an important time of the year so the day before there’s always a lot of prepping and celebration. I understand the Japanese do a considerable amount of cleaning and cooking, and even playing some traditional games. I’d like to experience that wonder at least once.
Through all of the discussion, it appears that Miyuki is a whole lot more traditional than any one of the girls. Being a city folk, that possibly means something. I think the most amusing thing that came out of this was seeing a Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters parody from Konata. She looks pretty sweet with the choker and the trench coat. Hail the Queen of Games!

Fast forward to Valentine’s Day, or what many know as “SAD.” I won’t delve too much into this but anyways, this was the perfect time to show off Kagami’s uber moé-ness as a tsundere. Sometimes I just have to appreciate Konata’s imagination and eccentricity when it comes to Kagami. Ideal indeed, but it leaves Kagami with a sour glare that cracks me up.
In the end though, it looks like the girls didn’t give chocolate to that many people, and that’s pretty “sad.” No boys to give chocolate to sounds unbearable. On the other hand, Shiraishi seemed to have pulled it off rather well with his recipient.

Konata mentions Yui’s little sister Yutaka once again. She tells the girls that she’ll be moving in with her once she starts going to the same school as themselves. The way she explains why she’s going to their school, which seems hard to get into, makes it sound like Konata’s cousin is a genius that jumped grade levels. Sound familiar? In any case, we’ll be seeing her real soon!
The final treats for the episode comes with Anizawa and his Gunsou buddies to once again, attempt to make a sale off of Konata. After a lot of fail, Anizawa pulls his ultimate trump card: GEASS! Schwing! Didn’t expect that one, honestly! He almost wins too, if it weren’t for the fact that Konata was 3 yen short. That much money and it’s still unfortunate, yet still hilarious. He could’ve let her go with a few yen off, couldn’t he? Better luck next time, Tenchou!

Akira shows up on LC wearing twin drills on her head, which actually don’t look that bad, but I think she was totally obsessed, considering how she’s just playing with them the whole time and not really paying active attention to the viewers. With that in mind, Shiraishi makes Akira announce the results for the figure poll and she suddenly gets a figurative slap in the face. As a result, she is disgruntled and leaves the set.
Wa-wa-wa-wasuremono…. No, I couldn’t believe it either. They really have some balls making Shiraishi do this, and he has the balls to be doing it too. The hit meme on 2ch suddenly manifests into an ED theme with live action shots of Shiraishi singing at the sea. Not bad, not bad, but I kind of prefer the karaoke box by a landslide.

Best ED in this show hands down. I don’t care what you say. D:
