Kita ze Inbou! - キタぜ陰謀!

Lucky☆Star ep. 8

[ Episode 08: Energetic Despite Not Being Myself ]

Don’t touch me…. Don’t. Touch. Me.

Taiikusai begins this episode, one of the greatest events you’ll ever have in a Japanese high school. It’s always fun watching these sports activities and everyone participating in it. My high school didn’t really have anything as big as that, just some rallies. Energetic and lively, but we’re just sitting on the bleachers watching the clubs and groups host the events. It’s always some battle between the grades, with seniors usually exerting more force than anyone else.

Anyways, I was pretty surprised that the girls were all talented in each different activity. Kagami is the master at anpan, perhaps a bit too much for the anpan, hahaha. Konata’s strategy for running 100 meters was great too. Ancient visualization indeed, but pretty effective. Kagami gets another round of screentime, this time doing the giant leaps, only to plant her face onto the sand. She has damn great jumps, almost Tokikake levels! Oh yeah, if you notice, the girl that went before her was Ayano, one of Kagami’s friends who we see in the later episodes. Tsukasa was ridiculously clumsy yet it was so hysterical seeing her fail hard on the hurdle jumps. Not surprising how she ended up counting incorrectly. I laughed when she tripped over and the impact made the hurdle in front of her collapse. Miyuki does her job and wins by a breast. Do you hear that in the background? Gravity!

Through the crowd comes Konata’s papa, going all out on his snazzy camera taking… a lot of pics… yeah, that’s all I should probably say about that. Though, seeing him getting taken away was a plus.

It ended a bit too soon, but it made the first half totally awesome. Now we run into a few more homely troubles. Kagami helping out Tsukasa with the recorder was fun to watch. I think Tsukasa overdoes it just a bit too much sometimes, but she sure wastes a lot of oxygen.

That’s not the least of her troubles though. I’ve been there, waiting in line for something you want only to find out the person in front got the last one… yep, that sucks a lot. Her problems still don’t end when she needs help with homework. The cutest scene in this episode finally hits. Tsukasa’s fantasy about if she were the older sister was simply adorable. Really wack, but adorable.

Konata runs into her own problem when she has to carefully consider her purchases for points. Can’t say I ever had this problem of not remember what I’ve bought before but man, that sucks too, yet I can’t help laugh. Speaking of Konata, she must really love pulling visual novel analogies into real life. All that talk about triggering flags is getting to her.

Uneasiness comes along in Lucky Channel again as Akira bitches and Shiraishi doesn’t know what to say that would tick Akira off. Hm, so they’re making a Shiraishi figure. He seems to be getting so popular these days. From all that fan mail and now this. Oh yeah, he shows up briefly in the episode as well, with a rather distorted face.

Konata returns to the karaoke box, but only for a short while due to not knowing English well. Hilarious stuff. I’ve played MONKEY MAGIC some times before on Ouendan 2 and it’s a pretty interesting song. The full version of Aya’s karaoke for this song is so baffling, it’s gold.
