Lucky☆Star ep. 3

[ Episode 03: Various People ]
As the title says, this episode brought many topics related to the many different people. Be it their personalities, their tastes, or their own views, it was very amusing learning more about the characters and the little questions they ask about themselves and each other.
Ah, so it’s the time when summer comes (what, so soon?) and with that, a shifting of uniforms is in order. Though there’s really not that much of a difference besides the sleeves being cut off and the red turns to blue. Points to Tsukasa for not getting the memo!
So after learning that putting love into your postcards or something helps you out in the long run, Kagami explains how she and Tsukasa are fraternal twins, which shows, seeing how the two are nonidentical in appearance and personality. Konata comments on their difference, taking a strike at Kagami’s preference of black compared to Tsukasa’s white. Twins, gotta love ‘em. After re-watching that scene, I just noticed that Konata asks if they know telepathy, being twins and all. Perhaps that was a foreshadowing of Katou Emiri’s role in Telepathy Shoujo Ran? Haha, it’s only a though but I’d like to find that amusingly true. To comment on the last part of the scene where the girls enter the train, a few trains usually wouldn’t have AC on and when it’s not on, it really is freakin’ warm in there. Otherwise, it’s really cool inside.

I didn’t realize months played such a big role. First we got May sickness, now it’s June and the wonderful time it is to have a marriage during that month. The origins told by Miyuki sounds sensible, but I thought Hera was the jealous type too? Besides, Zeus was always with others, right? Reminds me of Death Scythe. Next they discuss about religious weddings, or specifically speaking, dresses. Looks like they all seem to prefer dresses over traditional kimono.
One of my favorite scenes this episode is when Kagami makes Konata eat her own words when Kagami pretends to have trouble with a game and asks Konata for help, in which case Konata says that she needs to figure it out on her own. That’s when Kagami lures her in and counters back by bringing up the same point with her homework. Nice one, Kagamin. Another funny thing to bring up is how anime and manga tend to have mystery stories where it’s actually more complicated then it would be in real life. That definitely applies to just about any form of entertainment in media. You can definitely tell there’s a lot of effort going into those storyboards. If it wasn’t so complex though, it’d really be boring.

As a means to display more moé goodness, Konata, Tsukasa, and Kagami show off how their hair would be like in ponytails. Tsukasa wins this round, as she looks uber cute with a short ponytail. In the subject of adjusting looks, I really thought it was funny hearing why drunk men have their neckties worn on their heads. I always wondered about that too and from the explanation give, that seems like a probable reason. No arguments here, haha.
Being a collector of sorts myself, I find it a little bit crazy for Konata to own three of the same sentimental good of hers. I think even two is enough for me. I kinda understand where Konata’s coming from though. To keep with the subject of different kids of people, the girls go on to talk about Miyuki. Probably the only episode I can remember where she gets a lot of mention, she doesn’t seem to be all too popular to be idolized, but everyone still loves that knowledgeable, pure, yet clumsy girl. Miyuki-san, good job!

Another fun-filled Lucky Channel. The Miyuki light continues as Akira and Shiraishi introduce Miyuki to the viewers. Shiraishi seems to suddenly change his personality when talking about her. I think he really digs the nice, friendly meganekko rather than a short-tempered one that attracts lolicon. Make that bold too.
Now for this episode’s karaoke box… amazingly it’s something new, and it’s FMP! Even more amazing is Hirano Aya’s rendition of the song, as she sings it quite beautifully. Now what can be more amazing than that? Well, I guess it’d have to be Aya changing back and forth between her normal voice to her Konata voice. Still, it’s really good. Following the song, is another episode preview, this time narrated by Tsukasa… or at least, she was getting there, heh heh.
