Soul Eater ep. 4

[ Episode 4: Witch Hunting Invocation!? Heart Throbbing Graveyard Supplementary Class Lessons? ]

The biggest highlight of the episode is when Maka and Soul performs the Resonance of Souls and pulls out the amazing-looking Witch Hunter. Then I proceeded to laugh insanely at how Maka slipped and almost killed Black Star with it instead! Overall though, the battle was yet another great one to add to Soul Eater’s list. One thing I’m intrigued about is Maka’s mother. We’ve heard a lot about her so far and I really want to see her and her abilities.

First of all I would like to apologize for my absence, but after I got that out of the way let’s talk about Soul Eater.

What I liked about this episode is the fact it feels like it could really been the first episode of the show despite the fact we had 3 prologue episodes beforehand, due to events that happened like Sid’s transformation. It was a simple episode in execution as it had the same stylish animation like the previous, but this is the first time the story isn’t resolved the same episode, which left me a little more disappointed than usual.

It was still fun to watch Sid attacking Maka and co. and the part when Soul and BlackStar wanted to piss on Sid’s grave literally chocked me to death out of laughter. I also loved the fact that unlike MANY shounen shows (Bleach most apparent), while the main characters know how to control their supposed “ultimate attack”, they actually screw up and don’t execute it perfectly, which makes the show less and less predictable.

It was a nice episode, not the wow-fest of the first 3 episodes but fun enough to keep me engaged.

8.5/10

The real story finally starts… but, can we really call this a story if there’s no actual plot involved? Not at the latest, but it’s getting more enjoyable to watch.

I wonder why they decided to show Sid-sensei before he was “dead.” Anyways, the fight between him and the others was pretty interesting. Keeping with the Halloween presence, a graveyard match is reasonable. I really like the fight choreography in the series. Maka is, as usual, a tough fighter. You don’t see much tough females like that. While Black Star is the most boastful (probably more than Naruto ever could be) his Trap Star technique was hilariously awesome.

Overall another great episode. I can’t wait to see Dr. Stein though.
