CODE GEASS Lelouch of the Rebellion R2 ep. 9

[ Turn 09: The Bride of the Forbidden City]

Dammit. What’s with this constant tease-pairing of LelouchxKallen? What is it going to lead to? Kissing? Even more than that? Who the hell knows? Anyway, this episode amazed me yet again near the end when Lelouch took the Empress with a gun to her head. I still can’t believe that he did it but then again this is Lelouch. His plans almost always involve something insane. He really one-upped them though, taking advantage of their coup d’état to throw himself into the spotlight. I wonder if he and the OBK are really going to be able to gain control of the country though. Nothing is really that simple and there is sure to be an intense battle in the next episode, especially now that Xing Ke is super pissed and three of the Rounds are present. Oh and it seems like ORANGE is still alive. How the hell did that happen?

Initially I didn’t enjoy this episode much but now that I looked at it again, I’ve had a sort of change of heart. Moving on now, this episode had a great deal of focus on the Chinese Federation, particularly Tianzi the Empress of CF, who is engaged to First Prince Odysseus. Um… yeah. So I guess they couldn’t really do anything to stop it but thanks to their BFFs the Black Knights showing up at the party, things don’t really go well.

I was enjoying the chess match between Lelou and Schneizel. Interesting how both seem to be moving the King around a lot. From the looks of it, Schneizel definitely had the edge over Lelouch in terms of pieces but I’m not sure why he submitted purposely like that. To my understanding, the game of Chess is usually finished at Checkmate so no further moves would be needed. It was naturally Lelouch’s win I suppose but the game was just so rudely interrupted by Einstein. Speaking of her, she seems to look rather atrocious in that Euphy-like getup. Maybe if she actually stopped screaming her obsessiveness ass off once in while… oh, and why was she was Schneizel? Okay, is it just me or do Britannian Princes really dig very young girls? The First and Second Prince seem to think so, maybe there’s a trend? There’s also the fact that the Eunuchs all seem to be men with high-pitched voices.

In the last act, Xingke was about to stop the wedding, but Zero got ahead of him first in the state of awkwardness. Looks like every side wants a piece of Tianzi. It also looks like a triple threat match from the way things ended up but we shall see soon enough. What else is new? Orange is back. Kickass.
