CODE GEASS Lelouch of the Rebellion R2 ep. 7

[ Turn 07: The Discarded Mask ]

Another amazing episode. It’s content such as this that makes me realize time and time again why I love this series. I enjoyed seeing Lelouch contemplate his reasons for being who he is and for a moment I almost thought that he was going to give up being Zero. Interestingly enough, he has figured out that being Zero for Nunnally only won’t just be enough any longer but rather there is another reason. Hopefully, there is more about his new reasons in the new few episodes. One scene I really enjoyed was when Kallen found Lelouch about to inject himself with Refrain. For me it was pretty powerful, especially the words she used when talking to him. Could it be that she somehow loves him in her own special way? It’s hard to tell after that slap she gave him after he attempted to kiss her lol. Ah~, the tension between those two just keeps rising and rising. There has to be a boiling point somewhere in the future. There just has to be!

There was certainly a lot of “depth” in this episode. This is probably the first time we’ve seen Lelouch so confused with himself, it’s a bit scary. You can definitely see he’s losing composure after his attempt with Kallen and when he gets some folks to exercise, which I found rather hilarious in the worse kind of situation. But, you know, funny nonetheless. The other funny thing is it’s Rolo who is the one to get Lelouch to rethink for himself what he’s been doing and for what cause. Seems like everyone is concerned for him.

And with that comes the next thing with battle at sea. Quite a spectacle I thought, but all I really saw were missiles launching back and forth and bubbles, not that those were important really. Just another thing to know that Britannia’s getting their game insulted. That is, until Zero announces Kuro no Kishidan to participate in the SAZ of Nippon. Okay, so maybe he didn’t regain all of his composure…? Then again, he’s been surprising us for so long that what we’re expecting isn’t gonna be so surprising.
