Naked Glass Women = Oh My.

I didn’t know what to expect from this show when I first started it up. Before, all I had to go on was a thread-thin summary and an image of a gun, bullets, and a glass (of gin?). I knew of the detective agency thing but my mind didn’t come up with anything close to the characters that compose Crystal Blaze’s cast. First there is Ayaka and Manami. They’re both very cute girls but I ended up liking Ayaka more. She isn’t as energetic as Manami and at the moment seems to be pretty “secretary-ish” but I’m hoping that changes as she and Manami undoubtedly get into more trouble throughout the series. Akira is the “little boss” of the agency and the younger brother of its owner. There isn’t much to say about him at the moment but he seems to take on a lot of the work when his older brother isn’t around and has a cell phone filled with tons of numbers all of which are women his brother sleeps with. I found that particularly hilarious especially how it seemed like he had to call 20+ numbers before he found his brother. Speaking of his older sibling, Shuu, he didn’t show up until a little bit into the second half of the episode. It’s a given that he’s pretty cool and a lady’s man, but I feel we have yet to see what he really can do.

Then there’s Sara. She’s a breathtaking beauty and simply put I love to look at her (no, not because she naked for the entire time since she first appeared). She’s very similar to Sheryl from Macross Frontier in that manner for me. She seems to have some connection with the entire mystery of women turning into glass and shattering into dust. The difference between her and them is that she went from glass to a normal human body. At this point I don’t really have any concrete theories about her but I am curious abu the ring that was around her neck. Perhaps it was what kept her in glass form? Then there’s also the odd shockwaves she emits when Shuu touched her body. I have no idea what’s up with that but I’m certainly interested in finding out about why that happened.
Overall, I thought that the first episode was pretty good. For reasons beyond my understanding it filled me with nostalgia of a past series that I really loved: Coyote Ragtime Show. I have no idea why but it feels good anyway so I’m not going to question it at the moment. I’m looking forward to seeing what direction this series will take and to the development of the characters, especially Sara.
