The Tower of Druaga ~the Aegis of Uruk~ ep. 2

[ Episode 2: Meskia, City Within the Tower ]

YES! The true Fantasy element kicks in! Time to defeat the Evil Druaga! But first…we have to find party members.

Ah now this is more like it. This is the sort of stuff I imagined when I first saw the promotional images for Druaga. It really feels like a genuine fantasy series now and I’m psyched about where it is headed. Before I get more into that though, the OP still has me thinking about various things. I know that most of the time an OP sequence shouldn’t be taken too seriously but seeing the characters in a modern day world makes me think “Hey now this couldn’t be a MMORPG they’re playing, right?!”. It probably isn’t but I can’t help but think that every time I watch it.

Anyway, as for the main content, I loved it. Sure the comedy from the first episode isn’t in great abundance but that’s not the reason I started watching this in the first place. There’s still a good amount of comedy present anyways so it all works out. Jil turned out to be a pretty decent guy. I guess he was just off his game during the Tower incident but from what he showed in this episode he is a pretty capable guy. It’s a pity that he was fired from his original group (and by his brother no less) but this opens up a great opportunity for him to meet other people and befriend them. That happened in this very episode which him meeting Kaaya and Ahmey who I already like quite a bit. Kaaya, from the OP sequence, is the love interest here so I look forward to seeing how that develops. Ahmey hasn’t said much but she’s definitely a strong and dependable woman. Actually I’m not even sure if she’ll be speaking that much but she was just introduced after all.

While the assassination attempt at the end of the episode wasn’t exactly new, I was so absorbed into the episode that I didn’t really have any time to see it coming. So yeah, Jil is pretty screwed since he’s currently on the scene of the King’s murder…which I find pretty funny in a way. They broke into his room and apparently stabbed him to death yet it doesn’t seem that he even bothered to get up. Old age affects hearing that badly, eh? Anyway, it’s going to be interesting to see how Jil gets out of this but with Kaaya, Ahmey, Neeba, Fatina, and the other two nearby I’m sure something will be worked out.
