Kimi Aru ~They Are My Noble Masters~ - ep. 13 [END]

[ Episode 13: Family ]

Since it’s a final episode, don’t be surprise if I’m going to spoil it for you. Now enjoy the final episode of Kimi Aru.

A finale can either ruin a show, or make it a classic. If the episode that preceded it ended with a cliffhanger, than it’s more than adequete to have a proper finale. Guess what, though? Kimi Aru’s finale was a disappointment because of rash way problems were solved. Ren’s fight with Shinra ended in 3 minutes and his father got the beating of his life so now he is a different person. All that in the first 10 minutes of the episode, leaving the last 10 for a non cohesive Epilouge.
The beginning of the episode begins with Shinra’s firing Ren. Is it because of the fight they had? No. It’s because of him spilling coffee milk on her note sheets, naming him as incapable butler. Of course all is to avoid the real fact, that Shinra is stuck up. Even so, Ren does not leave the Kounji premises, since he met his father the other day, warning him that he is going to come over to the Kounji Mansion causing mayhem. Ren does not let anyone know in order to secure the family, and it’s funny how is not concerned at all about Shinra firing him. After a pep-talk from her sisters, Shinra quickly (and I mean quickly) gets over the fight and decides to rehire Ren. I expected that if the two are going to make up, it’s going to be between them, not if Miyu or Yume will interfere.
So that plot went down the drain, but now we have the fateful encounter between Ren and his father, voiced by the oh-so talented Keiji Fujiwara, who some of you may know as Maes Hughes from Fullmetal Alchemist and Holland from Eureka 7. It’s still a little hard for me to view him as the bad guy, but he does a good job of being a complete ass. He wants Ren back, Ren refuses and then… Falcon, I mean, Father punch. Beni and Shinra interfere, watching Ren cower in fear deciding to give in to his father’s will, but after undergoing the same speech he gave to Shinra, from the master herself, Ren gathers courage and puts his old man in place. From there, the rest of the family members show up and even Miyu, just because he called her a girl, uses De Niro to abuse him. It was enough to see Ren and Beni punch him, but Miyu makes this uncomfortable, as she has no connection to the scene. It’s like if Chiharu is going to chase the man with a broom, what will that do? Not only it’s unnecessary, it wasn’t funny.
The episode turns better from this point, mainly because Shinra received a proper criticism about her cold attitude, and her concert turns into her best yet for not only letting her instrument players do what they want to play, but also because she puts her heart into it without worrying she may not be good as her father. She later thanks Ren by kissing him, on the lips this time. I have to say, even after the last episode, it was a little unexpected to see those two interact. I have seen many romantic comedies in my life, and the two heroes just never get to kiss properly, like in Maburaho. After the show, the ending scene starts: Ren’s father has atoned his scenes and decided to start a new life and Ageha decided to fight to Ren ownership once again, so things are back to normal, as normal as Kimi Aru can get.
It wasn’t a great episode, but it wasn’t as bad as say, episodes 2, 9 and 10. The ending at least made the show entertaining with the soothing ending music playing in the background while a slideshow of the Kuonji’s vacation pitures are shown. It was a nice ride overall that I can say right now, was a lot better than most show of its genre, mainly because only 2 of the girls are romantically involved with the guy. If you want to know my final score, wait for my review later.
7/10
