This episode was definitely better than the last. Sure there wasn’t any “action” but I still found it to be quite enjoyable. The whole setup with Hikari making a bento for Kei isn’t exactly new but I loved how it was all executed. Kei’s reason for wanting a bento made me smile a bit. If you place yourself in his shoes, I think it’s easy to understand why he’d desire something homemade from someone he cares about so much. However, no matter how you look at it, Hikari can’t cook to save her own life. She made a cannonball for goodness sakes! There’s no telling how her last effort turned out but if I were Kei I very likely would have said it tasted good as well, especially after waiting so long for it.

Well now I can’t say I saw Monta throwing away his prized possession (Honjou’s glove) into the ocean coming. Honestly though it’s all for the best and I’m glad his moody period didn’t last long. Still, if what Taka has shown so far in word and in movement Monta still has a long way to go before he can put up a decent fight in the Christmas Bowl. That said I really loved seeing the gloves Sena collected from all the other receivers Monta went up against in the past. Personally I think that those are worth much more than that baseball glove ever did.

This episode focused heavily on the explanation of chakra shape manipulation and chakra natures. I recall the first time I read the chapter with this information and I had the biggest “WHAT?” expression on my face. It wasn’t because I didn’t understand what was being said but rather I was wondering where the hell it all came from all of a sudden. Still even if Kishimoto did come up with it all in part 2 or from the very beginning, I still find it to be quite creative. I especially like how new natures are created with the combination of two of the basic elements (which creates Bloodline Limits). One thought that I had throughout the episode was that it Naruto is really dense lol. I mean seriously, none of what Kakashi was saying was that difficult to follow but I suppose we all learn at our own paces.

Woo~! Bleach has hit widescreen format! I really think that this should have been done at the start of the Hueco Mundo arc but at least it’s finally been done. This episode marks the beginning of the new Amagai Shuusuke arc. Amagai is the new 3rd Division Captain and is a pretty likable guy. His presence is much different than the others and I don’t think it’s just because he’s the new guy. There’s something about him that I can’t quite put my finger on but I suppose it’ll become clearer as the arc progresses. His zanpakutou was pretty unique though in the beginning I thought he had two. I’m guessing that other sword is a secondary weapon or something. Or perhaps it’ll turn out to be more than that? Well, whatever the ability of his zanpakutou is, it must be pretty damn strong to wipe out a Cleaner (which is apparently really strong from what we’ve seen of it so far).

This was a pretty nice conclusion to the Ichigo vs. Grimmjow fight. Funny thing is that I just finished playing the demo for Bleach Heat the Soul 5 which allows you to play with Ichigo against Grimmjow. It was pretty good, I thought. Anyway, I found that Grimmjow’s backstory was implemented quite well. I still laugh at how he was once a tiger panther Hollow though since the first time I saw it in the manga. As for the end of the episode itself, I found it interesting how it said “To the Next Episode”. Yup. Filler time is here and it’s an odd one at that. Hell, even Ichigo didn’t know what the hell was going on during the preview and the Shinigami Cup. I don’t blame the guy, I would feel the same way if I were in Hueco Mundo one second and then back home in another second. I don’t know what to expect from the upcoming original arc but I do know that Rangiku will be in the next episode so that’s reason enough for me to be psyched.

Heh. So this Tatsuo guy seems to be completely gone and is a lost cause. Or at least that’s what we’re being led to think at the moment. Amamiya was as impressive as ever but I have a feeling we still haven’t seen the full extent of her abilities. Though now that she’s tired I’m guessing either Asaga or Yoshino will be stepping forward despite their inexperience in combat. Though it looks like Oboro has something up his sleeve which I think is a plan since I don’t think he has control over his power as yet. From the looks of things they only have Tatsuo do deal with since I think that huge worm is now dead.
