Square Enix’s Sigma Harmonics

![]()
Some time ago Square Enix registered a new IP and didn’t reveal exactly what it was or for what system it was developing the title for. Well, information has finally be given out and Famitsu is as always the first to pick it up and report it to the masses. Sigma Harmonics is being developed for the Nintendo DS and is reportedly 60% complete and set to be released in Japan this summer. What’s interesting about this game is that it is played with the DS held sideways (like a book). Of course it has the things you’d expect such as leveling up but you don’t have to worry about grinding since this is an Adventure RPG. The story is described as being a murder mystery divided into chapters. Every new chapter promises to introduce a new mystery as well! I’m hoping that means mysteries can be stacked and possibly be linked to each other. The premise reminds me of Persona 4’s which is also centered around a murder mystery. That, in my eyes, is a great thing.
I’m looking forward to hearing more about this game as the Japanese release nears. An international release, I think, is very possible given Square Enix’s history. I just hope that any international release is in 2008 and doesn’t carry over to 2009. If that happens then I’ll be forced to import!
A few tidbits and full scans after the jump!

Kinda like Hotel Dusk, sounds interesting.
I’m actually looking forward to this myself. Personally it’s nice to see some new IPs from Squeenix that doesn’t have “Final” or “Fantasy” in it.
The World Ends With You looks great too.
