Shigofumi ep. 4

[ Episode 4: Tears ]
![]()
Yet another great episode of Shigofumi. Man, I just can’t stop loving this show. Fumika, despite not being exactly talkative, is one of the best female characters of the season. I’m quite interested her in past but I’ll come back to that. The central characters of this episode were Ran and Nanae. Well, Ran than Nanae since she was the recipient of the shigofumi. Their relationship was touched upon so I guess you can scream “YURI!” if you want to.
Ran refused to receive her shigofumi a few times and I jokingly thought about Fumika threatening her with her gun to take the letter or die. In the end she managed to deliver it though and even though Ran encountered some troubles she was able to read it and changed her feelings toward her mother who she supposedly detested.

This episode deals with the delicate issue of suicide. I didn’t particularly look for the alteration that was made to this episode but it was enjoyable nonetheless. Maybe it’s just me but I found Sen’s shigofumi to be hilarious for some reason. I mean really, he wanted to experience what would happen if he jumped? What did he THINK would happen? That he’d just be able to brush himself off and walk away? Nah. Of course not. You’d be dead in every meaning of the word. His friends, particularly Kotake seemed to want to do something similar in the beginning of the episode but after what happened to Sen I doubt that he’ll be trying something like that again.

[ Episode 7: Hotaru ]

Wait, wait. So “Hinata” is actually Hotaru? So logically that means she was the younger sister and that “Hotaru” is Hinata and the older sister. This also reveals that, although it has been obvious for a while, that Otoha is Hinata, especially after seeing the story that Hotaru drew in her sketchbook. Ok that much makes sense but I don’t get what those old jackasses mean by having Hotaru use Hinata’s name. Is it some sort of successor thing? Blah, whatever. I just wish someone would stomp that old man into the ground. I could care less if he’s old. Though now that I understand what Hotaru has been through I take back the things I said about her previously because she really had it hard with losing her older sister and then being forced to live as her to protect the family “honour”.
Other than that it’s pretty funny how nearly everyone is buddy-buddy with Hayami now. Not too long ago they were all pretty much in hate-hate-hate mode but now they’re asking Hayami for help with things and laughing together. Though I guess it’s all for the best since the hate was senseless and stupid to begin with.

Nena is a bit touched in the head isn’t she? o_o Good lord, what was she thinking when she attacked those civilians? “Nothing” would seem to be the natural response but…I was kind of speechless when the whole thing went down. No matter how you look at it that was just absolutely unnecessary. Her reckless actions practically wiped out an entire family and nearly fatally injured Louise. I guess that’s what happens when you give a child power of such magnitude. Though I can’t help but think that she was raised this way and that the person who gave her a Gundam to begin with is to blame as well.
Anyway, that being said, that scene between Louise and Saji was pretty heartbreaking to watch. I don’t usually get shocked but seeing Louise missing part of her left arm really took me off guard. That just adds upon the tons of emotional tragedy that she has to endure and the same goes for Saji. Now I’m wondering if Saji in his shocked state will do something like join the military.

Those new Meisters are something else. Nena is super cute but seems rather childish, Michael is an idiot and Johann is cool I guess as he is at the moment the is the most respectable and mature. I’m wondering about their purpose though since we are told nothing about why they exist. I also don’t understand why they attacked that base aside from that professor discovering information about the possibility of the Gundams originating from Jupiter though the amount of force used seem to be beyond excessive.
Anyway, I really loved the way Nena kissed Setsuna and him shoving her away. I LOL’ed so hard. No matter how cute the girl may be she still violated his personal space after all.
The Haro reunion was freaking hilarious as well. The older brother Haro telling the younger one to “Go to hell! Go to hell!” had me rolling though I must say it was kind of random especially given the mood at the time.

Was it just me or was this rather normal-paced (excusing the flashbacks)? It’ll probably be the “just me” reply but that hardly matters. Why? Of course because we got to see the return of the avenger (there must be a better title than that, right?). He who is (or was?) the definition of Emo. That one who once (still?) lacked hatred. The one who likes to play around with his Sharingan like it’s some sort of toy. Yup. That sounds like Sasuke to me. He’s quite the mean fellow as always (not a surprise). He should have at least greeted Sai semi-normally instead of coming across as a complete douche. Though I guess being around people like Orochimaru and Kabuto he can’t help it. And what was with him staying in the dark? It seems like someone has become even more anti-social than they already were three years ago.
But enough about that bloke and onto other things that interest me more. Like Sakura’s measurements, her choice of shampoo or body-wash, and whether she prefers it fast or slow. And by it I mean building her relationship with Naruto. There’s no innuendo there. Really.

I don’t normally blog CLANNAD (it’s Youko’s domain really) but I just couldn’t hold myself back for this episode. You’ll see and understand why once you continue reading.
Disappointing episode is disappointing. No, actually it’s rather awesome if you base it on Tomoyo’s pwnage only but that’s not really why I made this entry to begin with. In the beginning I think it was obvious who was going to be the final girl and that made me facepalm from day one. Why did I do that? Well, all I had to do was take one look at Nagisa and see that she wasn’t going to be a favorite of mine nor who I’d prefer to be the final girl (and yes I feel the same now even 18 episodes in). I find those feelings pretty funny since I felt the same with Kanon and Ayu being the final girl. In both shows I thought that one or two other girls suited the main guy much better in appearance and personality but unfortunately they always got shafted.

Eh. I didn’t really see Chloe playing the bitch card until last episode and this one. I especially thought that when she told those jack-off old farts that accompanied her to kill Lawrence. In any case I absolutely loved it when Horo transformed into her huge wolf form and started kicking ass. I was laughing at how all those men were practically being broken to pieces. Don’t get me started on how she scared Chloe piss-less that she completely passed out. Speaking of her transformation, right before she did transform I had flashbacks of Claymore when after she took some of Lawrence’s blood and her mouth/jaw had started to change. Awesome.

Mwahaha! Do I smell the delicious possibility of incestuous affairs between Shin and Hiromi? EPIC SISCON IS EPIC.
I just no that I think a lot of “Dammit!” comments were said after this episode was aired. Well, I suppose that kind of comment would come from those that either 1) wouldn’t like such a twist, 2) had bad experiences with it in other shows which I won’t name, or 3) fall in some other kind of category all together (likely to be the anti-incest brigade carrying either their bibles or their scientific reports on evilness of inbreeding). Well, I’m not one to judge the kinds of love that can or cannot exist so I don’t share the opinion of disgust and other similar feelings regarding the possibility of brother/sister relations. I say that if only to remain neutral.
Starting from the top: Shin is such a dumbass. Totally incapable of reading the atmosphere when Aiko told him not to open the door. I just wanted to dropkick him in the face for doing so. Aiko needs to be more decisive on her feelings. Speaking of which she shouldn’t have accepted Nobuse’s confession in the past since it’s obvious she liked Shin since before that time. Jun may be Shin’s rival of sorts but he’s damn cool, especially when he walked up to Hiromi in the middle of her practice to tell her that he wants to talk to her. Not to mention he further emitted coolness when he actually finished talking to her about their date. Something tells me that Jun should be in the main character spot at this point.

Hmm. Yuji is looking more and more confident ever since the events with Hecate and Pheles. Though the situation seems to be more than that. By that I mean that Yuji is slowly changing. His tone when he spoke to both Shana and Alastor regarding his training seemed much more demanding than anything he’s ever said or expressed since the start of the series. It’s kind of like he’s being possessed by something and that something is probably within the Reiji Maigo. Can I get a hissssssss?
Also it seems like Eita is out of the story or at least the main party now. Good riddance I say. More importantly, next episode is introducing some new Tomogara. I’m not sure but they look like the guys who Yuji was owning in the new opening sequence. I don’t know what their purpose is or if they’re scouts for Sabrac but if that’s the case then they surely aren’t bringing good-will with them. It was also interesting to hear that Sabrac is a strong bastard to have had Wilhelmina on the ropes and have her, Pheles, and Johan on the run. I think it’s safe to say that when he shows up there won’t be any easy victories being had by anyone. Unless of course plot-hax comes into play.
