Kita ze Inbou! - キタぜ陰謀!

Shigofumi ep. 5

[ Episode 5: I'm Home ]

This was a nice change to the previous episodes that dealt with serious cases. Just like I thought in the previous episode, Fumika and Chiaki get to work together! Though the delivery is really odd since the recipient is a cat and, well, cats can’t exactly talk or read so that makes things extremely difficult. They had to chase the cat all over the city while encountering some scouts (guys who scout girls to be hostesses or otherwise though my definition might not be exactly accurate), Fumika kicking their asses, and Fumika revealing her extremely cute side and the fact that she’s scared of cats. Her facial expressions were to die for! ^__^

Chiaki brought up an interesting point in this episode as well. When couriers die they retain the age and appearance they did at the time of death but she reveals that Fumika continues to grow and wonders exactly why that is. Of course I find this all interesting and came to an early guess that Fumika isn’t dead. Things get even more bizarre after Kaname does some checking around and finds out that Fumika is supposed to be a hospital and, after being accidentally tackled by courier Fumika, enters to discover that the Fumika in his past and memories is bed-ridden and has been in a coma for three years. After seeing that I don’t even know what to think anymore and Fumika’s reaction to seeing what I assume to be her body didn’t help things either. Is she dead? Or as a result of her coma is she able to travel around as a spirit? Or are the two Fumika’s completely different people? The latter doesn’t seem to be likely at all since she seems to know Kaname. There’s also the issue of her supposedly shooting her father. What’s up with that? Well, Shigofumi has just gotten tons more interesting with these mysteries now on the table and I want more! :D

Oh how nice, the cat gets a letter this time. A bit odd, but it was funny to watch. Actually, I found Fumika’s fear of cats rather cute. One thing that was brought up in here was that Fumika actually ages. We’re already assuming that all carriers used to be human, are now dead, and deliver Shigofumi. They have the same appearance as when they had died. So what’s up with Fumika? A big hint was revealed when we see what appears to be Fumika herself in a coma at a hospital. This just makes me wonder that perhaps Fumika really isn’t dead at all. She’s unconscious and near death and because of that, she can age. What exactly this means is beyond me, so I think they will definitely tap into this bit in the future.
