Bleach ep. 161

[ BLEACH #161]

I’m going to get the point of this episode first. Ichigo made it clear who takes priority in his mind and heart, I think, when he attacked Ulquiorra. He initially was going to save Rukia (again) but just one sentence from Ulquiorra about kidnapping Orihime caused him to forget about that and immediately strike at him. He’s seriously pissed and it’s all understandable really given that Ulquiorra’s actions tarnished Orihime’s name and got her labeled as a traitor. I guess being a shounen series Ichigo’s decision may or may not be important relationship-wise, but hey I gotta think and talk about something other than fighting some times.
Anyway, as for the other highlights in this episode we got our first real glimpse at Stark and his assistant. I never really understood the relevance of the scene with him especially when his assistant asks him if he’s okay with Aaroniero dying. Is he more emotionally open than the other Espada or something? It’s hard to tell at this point especially since the manga hasn’t really touched on it since then either.
Next week is more Ichigo vs. Ulquiorra!

I definitely disagree that this episode showed that Ichigo cares more about Orihime. After clashing with Ulquiorra, Ichigo noted that “This guy won’t let me pass no matter what I do” and “Sorry, but I’m in a hurry.” Ulquiorra came there specifically to pick a fight with Ichigo; telling him “Sorry, I don’t care about what you did to Inoue” wouldn’t have averted the fight and would have been incredibly unheroic of Ichigo.
Well, most of us were born to “agree to disagree” in this world. As for me I just plain disagree without having to agree. ^_^
I just call it the way I see it. That and I love nothing more than to piss off IchiRuki shippers.
I disagree with your opinion and I think you pretty much make a shollow conclusion. I love nothing more than telling IchiOri fans they’re wrong XD
I think you just waited for one IchiOri moment to dismiss all the entire 160 episodes worth of anime. You used that one reaction from Ichigo to conclude Ichigo placed Orihime’s pride higher than Rukia’s life. I don’t need to say anything but that’s pretty much not the Ichigo we’ known of.
Ah damn, I meant ’shallow’ but I think you get what I tried to say.
*points to comment about pissing off IchiRuki shippers*
It gets boring just talking about fighting and when the anime is going to go into filler mode all the time. So why not trigger some disagreements by placing out some bait?
As for the shallow-conclusion-opinion thing, well that probably would be the case if I were serious. ^^
Though as far as I’m concerned IchiOri and IchiRuki fans don’t really have anything to argue about since neither have the upperhand in regards to mutuality between the characters. That and Ichigo is too stupid by shounen law at the moment for any sort of romance to bloom (thank goodness for exceptions like Kenshin and Haru Glory). Well, Orihime’s confession many episodes/chapters ago is more than a satisfying fresh slap to the face of IchiRuki fans anyways. :O
I hadn’t considered Ichigo’s priorties when I read that scene in the manga.
In the end it really doesn’t matter unless Kubo plans to start up romance during or after the Hueco Mundo arc. Which is as likely as Hanatarou defeating Aizen with Bankai or Kon beating Aizen with a squishy-kick to the face. Unless he throws something together in the final chapter of the series…whenever that may be.
Needless to say, barring the exception, that means I’d be shocked.
