Shigofumi ep. 4

[ Episode 4: Tears ]

Yet another great episode of Shigofumi. Man, I just can’t stop loving this show. Fumika, despite not being exactly talkative, is one of the best female characters of the season. I’m quite interested her in past but I’ll come back to that. The central characters of this episode were Ran and Nanae. Well, Ran than Nanae since she was the recipient of the shigofumi. Their relationship was touched upon so I guess you can scream “YURI!” if you want to. :P Ran refused to receive her shigofumi a few times and I jokingly thought about Fumika threatening her with her gun to take the letter or die. In the end she managed to deliver it though and even though Ran encountered some troubles she was able to read it and changed her feelings toward her mother who she supposedly detested.

The most interesting part of this episode though was the appearance of a new courier by the name of Chiaki. She’s pretty cute and seems to have some seniority in the Gospel Department and she and Fumika appear to be friends. I’m not sure if she’ll have any backstory like Fumika but I’m looking forward to seeing more of them and hopefully working together at least once.

Well for some reason, I found this episode to be a bit lacking compared to the first three. Yeah, I realize this is a change from the usual stuff, which is good, but it just wasn’t so appealing to me. I dunno, maybe it’s because the deal with the girl and her mother wasn’t anything special? Ah, well anyways, what really got this episode going was Chiaki’s introduction. (Asano <3) She seems to carry some spunk and her staff is really awesome. The interaction with Kanaka was just hilarious. Actually, I think Kanaka gets more hilarious each time. From the next episode preview, things do seem like they pick up from here, which I'm definitely looking forward to.
