CLANNAD ep. 18

I don’t normally blog CLANNAD (it’s Youko’s domain really) but I just couldn’t hold myself back for this episode. You’ll see and understand why once you continue reading.
Disappointing episode is disappointing. No, actually it’s rather awesome if you base it on Tomoyo’s pwnage only but that’s not really why I made this entry to begin with. In the beginning I think it was obvious who was going to be the final girl and that made me facepalm from day one. Why did I do that? Well, all I had to do was take one look at Nagisa and see that she wasn’t going to be a favorite of mine nor who I’d prefer to be the final girl (and yes I feel the same now even 18 episodes in). I find those feelings pretty funny since I felt the same with Kanon and Ayu being the final girl. In both shows I thought that one or two other girls suited the main guy much better in appearance and personality but unfortunately they always got shafted.

CLANNAD’s shafting is by far the most brutal I’ve seen yet (or at least can remember). Seriously, what the hell? Mercilessly axing three girls in one shot without considering their fanbases? That’s a bad move. A really bad move. To make matters worse we had to see the twins in a bawl festival because they realised that Tomoya has only Nagisa in his eyes. Speaking of which, what the hell was up with the upbeat music during their bawling? Anyway, even though Tomoyo gracefully bowed out I’m still pissed at how she hardly got a chance to try her cards at romance. Don’t get me started on how her arc (if you want to call this an arc) was slashed when others like Fuko and Kotomi got so many episodes. Actually, I don’t mind Kotomi. Kotomi’s beyond lovable but good god Fuko’s arc lasted longer than both of Tomoyo, Kyou, and Ryou’s combined. Also, why is she still having completely random appearances? >_>
Yeah, I vaguely know about the story paths and the range of difficultly to incorporate some [romance] elements from them but I wouldn’t be writing this if I cared about all of that nonsense (yes I know they can’t incorporate everything from such a voluminous game as CLANNAD). I got robbed of my @^ing Tomoyo After!
Bah, I guess I can just chalk this one up to the final pairing not being what I wanted it to be. Again. Really, the AIR anime was the only one that satisfied me in that regard. Still, even though Tomoya/Nagisa might be paraded about from now until the end like a hyper crack addict parading around and waving around his country’s flag for promised drug hook-ups during independence day, that doesn’t mean I won’t enjoy these last few episodes since I did rather like Kanon’s final episodes as well. Though that all depends on what happens from now until the finale. Lastly, I heard that some crying may be in store in the episodes to come but I doubt that I’ll be sobbing unless I’m really convinced to care about what happens at that time.

Kanon had fair presentation. More like things simply weren’t meant to be when a girl bowed out.
the episode was good, leon. you’re probably seeing some sorta illusion when watched you watched it.
something’s gonna happen. they paired nagisa and tomoya too early. suspicious.
what sucked is that they explained tomoyo’s past instead of showing bit by bit.
I never said the episode wasn’t good. Didn’t you see the part I mentioned about Tomoyo?
And of course something is going to happen just like in Kanon and AIR. Six episodes remain and I’m quite interested to see what will happen in that amount of time/episodes.
The guy wearing boxers on his head looks nice. He might not be the main character, but he’d be worth considering for any of the girls.
