I didn’t pull “economic collapse” out of thin-air. It was refered to in the episode by the reporters. The economic downturn and ressions caused by Celestial Being’s interventions. Miss Stupid Reporter didn’t think that was worth her time though and instead wanted to continue pursuing Monocle Man.

Celestial Being is too small to stop war, but unstoppable enough to make everyone’s lives miserable. What’s worse is they don’t produce anything and contribute nothing to society. They won’t even consider sharing their miracle tech.

I don’t need the characters to call the exercise a war. I already know that it’s a war to capture a Gundam from all the information given from every side involved in the “exercise”.

Everyone who doesn’t have a Gundam wants one or at least a piece of one. That won’t change now or in the future until they either capture one or build something just as good or better which can only be another Gundam.

Lol @ the economy part. I’m sorry but Celestial Being alone, barely a handful of people, can’t cause a global economy collapse. Governments and other authorities also have a very large role in such an event occurring. You’re just broadcasting your dislike for CB here by trying to pin the blame on them.

At no point did anyone refer to the joint exercise as a war. Even Ali seemed to be speaking general terms.

The sad thing is, after rewatching the episode, I may end up not liking anyone in the show. “No matter what, we have to get a Gundam.” and that’s said in the context of administration and party rule, not what’s in the best interest of their country. On the other hand, defeating Celestial Being would probably boost their popularity, regardless of capturing a Gundam. There’s still time to not shoot themselves in the foot as far as I’m concerned.

I also didn’t like how they glossed over the fact that Celestial Being is causing a collapse of the global economy. I suppose I could just look at it as Celestial Being causing everyone to become desperate with their super-dickery.
