Gundam 00 ep. 12

[ Episode 12: At Doctrine's End... ]

Ah yes, it’s about time there was (another?) Setsuna-centric episode. Even more so it takes place in his home country where the lovely Marina is also residing. Which of course raises the chances of them meeting than if they were any where else on Earth (or in space lol). Anyway, this episode reminded me about just how ridiculous religious differences can be when they lead to war. There’s nothing that really can be done about them except hope that those involved don’t remain as total idiots. Though, as shown in this episode that kind of reality is too optimistic. Marina was pretty much disturbed with the whole coup de ‘trait going down so suddenly and can’t help but waver in her thoughts. Shiri, like her or not, is there to make sure she doesn’t fall into despair though which brings some comfort.

As for Setsuna, he really got caught up into the fight in the latter half of the episode. Haunting by the flashbacks of war as a child he totally ripped into those mobile suits that were firing at child and other adults armed with guns and missile launchers. I really didn’t expect him to say that what he did at the end of the episode. Though I guess his way of ‘becoming a Gundam’ has more to do with emotions than anything else.

Highlight of the episode was Graham making a fool out of Lock-on.

Middle East is Middle East. It’s sad to see nothing’s changed there after 1500 years.

The only one who looked like a fool here was Graham. He should learn that he shouldn’t start something he can’t finish (in more than one way), especially when he wasn’t supposed to start it in the first place. :P

What do you mean? Hindsight is 20/20 you know. His behavior suited the situation and his character. You can’t fault him for following orders and attempting to achieve his main objective, even though it’s probably impossible for him to accomplish on his own.
