Spice and Wolf ep. 2

[ Episode 2: Wolf and Distant Past ]

This second episode, I thought, was even better than the first episode. Spice and Wolf is the type of show that while it is slow it is quite entertaining through the dialogue and character relationships. That holds especially true for Horo and Lawrence. Whether it’s the anime or the manga I never get bored with their discussions. Horo especially makes things interesting with her joyful presence. It’s always a treat to to see her in her Horo the Wise-mode or her playful mode. ^__^

One of the things I’ve always found strange is that Lawrence isn’t that flustered around naked Horo. Granted that she is a wolf that still doesn’t change the fact that she is using a human form and an attractive one at that. Oh well, it doesn’t really matter much anyways. Horo continues to climb her way into an early spot as female of the year as well. There’s no wonder her character is so popular since she is so approachable when she is in her playful mode and when she shows her vulnerable side occasionally.
Witnessing both of their wit is always a joy for me as well. Thankfully they don’t overboard and have reasonable limits in what they say to each other. I have to say though that I practically burst into laughter when Horo did the little whisker motion when she was talking to Lawrence about growing his beard longer. I don’t even think it’s possible without some sort of implant!
As for next episode, it looks like we’re in for some fun with economics! ^__^

Do you think they’re skipping the whole church/pagan god dynamic for the anime? They haven’t even mentioned the Church in the context of finding out Horo’s identity. It’s like they’re simply hiding her “burns” and other unmentionables to avoid drawing attention.
…And I wish we had fewer fleas and more tail-nibbling.
Well, they didn’t mention it bluntly which I did find to be a bit odd but at the least it is implied. Maybe they’ll continue to imply it or outright state it in the next episode or two is my guess.
I’d marry Horo. AND raise her puppies. But it drives me crazy that she sits placidly & strokes her own tail IN THE WRONG DIRECTION - starting at the tip and moving toward the base. Try that with the next wolf you see, c’mon!
Goat cheese or rye bread?
I choose both.
