true tears -アニメ化決定！！

When I saw the trailer for this some time ago I instantly thought that this was going to be the winter show with the most potential to become something great. I still feel that way after seeing such a wonderful first episode. It goes without saying that the production-values are very high. Just watching the episode treats your eyes to pure eyecandy (the healthy kind) and the accompanying soundtrack was heaven to my ears. There is something about the tracks that I found quite comforting which doesn’t happen very often. I think that True Tears is that something I’ve been looking forward to ever since ef - a tale of memories ended and so I’ll definitely be blogging this (and hopefully on time as well).

The characters are instantly one of the best parts of the show. Starting with the male lead, Shinichiro, he’s a pretty down-to-earth guy that is apparently average but doesn’t really give off that aura. One thing I really liked about him was that I felt that I could connect with his character through the lines of prose he was saying around the beginning of the episode. Being a writer myself I usually have similar thoughts to what he displayed in this episode, though I haven’t drawn for quite sometime but I really like his artwork (especially the one with the crying-eye sun). Now for the girls. There are three that were introduced so far. They are Noe, Hiromi, and Ai.

Firstly, there is Noe who pretty much seems to be the main girl here. The way she and Shinichiro met was pretty funny and I’m not sure what I’d think if a girl just suddenly jumped from and onto me. Then again, I’d probably be too busy lost in a daze. Anyway, Noe is a rather unusual girl. She talks about being able to “fly” which she first placed on the chickens she was taking care of and then applied it to herself and Shinichiro. I had thought that she was going to cry though when they found that the black chicken was killed by some raccoon but, according to her, she gave her tears away. That line has me very interested in her story now and I’m looking forward to her development.

Hiromi is the next girl who we see is living with Shinichiro. She ended up moving in with his family when her father died a year ago but keeps to self quite a bit. I’m not too sure what to think about her other than she behaves that way because she feels that she’s a nuisance to the family. She doesn’t seem to be quiet or withdrawn at school as well so I’m guessing that my initial thought just might be true (then there’s also the incident in the bathroom which, in cliché, would have been the gasping and slapping routine). She has made me interested in seeing why she acts the way she does when at home and I’d also like to know what she thinks about Shinichiro.

Lastly there is Ai. Nothing much was covered about her so far but she seems to be the childhood friend in the show. I wouldn’t be surprised if she has feelings for Shinichiro but I’ll save those kind of thoughts for when/if she does start to exhibit such feelings.

Oh yeah! I really liked the OP and ED songs. I think I’m going to have to find some rips of those until the singles come out a little later.

When it all boils down to it, this episode was a pretty damn good start. This is definitely one show that should be checked out especially if you’re a fan of the genre.
