I find it hard not to laugh at two talking heads in a fishbowl.

Then again, not just any two talking heads in a fishbowl have a zanpaktou and serious sonido skills.

This wasn’t one of my favorite fights in the manga or in Hueco Mundo but the way it is being presented really gives it a fresh look. The animation is a large part of that as it was very good in this episode. It is particularly noticed in scenes such as when Aaroniero Arruruerie’s face melted off to show his (their?) true appearance and when he released his zanpaktou, Glotonería. It really looked gross, as it should be, and I thought the animation team did a great job conveying it all. The final scene felt pretty ominous too and really makes you go “Oh shi-! What’s gonna happen next?!” even if you’ve seen it in the manga already.

The new ED sounds pretty good and I’m liking it. The scenes were great as well though I particularly liked how they left Orihime and Ichigo for last.
