Anime Awards 2007 ni Youkoso! Part 2 ~ Black Blood Days

![]()
Beyond the genre and even the title there are the things that form a show as a whole. There’s the story, the characters, the seiyuu, and music. As a result of those there are certain shows we remember because they left a big impression on us for various reasons. It could be because someone died in a spectacular way or because we were introduced to one of the greatest douchebags known to man (okay, at least in anime/manga history). Whatever the element, we hold dear to us our favorite characters and moments and either smile, frown, or shake our heads at some of the shocks and surprises that blindsided us. That is a flash of what we’ll be discussing here in Part 2: The Black Blood Days.
Like last time there will be spoilers ahead. You have been warned.
PERSONA ~trinity soul~ ep. 3

[ Episode 3: Outsiders ]
![]()
Yosh! Now this is what I’m talking about. Easily the best episode yet, the action was pretty damn good. Man, I new Ryou’s Persona was strong but the power it displayed really went beyond my expectations. I was expecting Touma to last a bit longer than he did but he was pounded into the ground without so much as a chance to catch a breath. Well, that’s what he gets for calling out the chief of police.
Shin’s fight with Saki and Soutarou’s Personae was a little more low-key since Shin still doesn’t know what he’s doing and the Persona acts on its own to protect him. What happened after the fight though was pretty damn weird, but it seems like Soutarou now has his Persona and Saki’s Persona both infused inside him which resulted in a massive fit episode. Weird.
H2O ~FOOTPRINTS IN THE SAND~ ep. 4

[ Episode 4: Hamaji ]

There’s one thing, ONE THING that made this episode awesome. What is that one thing you ask? Well it’s not exactly a thing but person. Yeah, you know who. None other than Hamaji. I can only imagine the shock on some people’s faces at Hamaji being a trap and a very convincing one at that. If Hamaji didn’t do what she did in the onsen then I doubt most would have found out unless they read game spoilers.
Rosario + Vampire ep. 4

[ Episode 4: A Farewell and Vampire ]

Whoa. Whoa. Whoa! What the hell is this? Is this filler? Hold on now, is filler really needed in a show scheduled for 13 episodes? Bah. Whatever. Overall this episode was a split between funny and boring. As for which one was more dominant, well, let’s just say that Kurumu’s breast-rubbing and True Moka kept me aware and alert. I just didn’t see the point of it even in the sense of it being anime-only. There wasn’t really a point to the episode except to reinforce that Tsukune, at the moment, is useless against even three lame-ass monsters who “united” to form the ultimate fail of a monster.

[ Episode 339: One Phenomenon After Another! Disembarking at Thriller Bark ]
Ah! It’s nice to finally since the Thriller Bark arc finally get underway. I’m going to enjoy seeing everything from the manga animated and of course any additions from the anime team. As always with OP this episode had me rolling with laughter. It especially helps that I forgot some details of this arc such as Brooke (for those out of the loop Brooke is a new character who has a lot of potential to be the next new crew member, especially since he is a musician, a position Luffy has wanted fulfilled since the start of the adventure) running on the water. I could barely recover from the laughter at such a sight lol. Then there’s the scene with Nami, Usopp, and Chopper running from a pretty messed up looking Cerberus which actually consists of two dogs and a fox! Hearing the ‘Wan! Wan! Kon!’ really made that scene funnier than it was in the manga.
Things will get more interesting when Luffy and the others land on the island though since the first party isn’t exactly the most dependable or the strongest of our dearest Strawhats.

Shigofumi ep. 2

[ Episode 2: Rocket ]

Oh man this was such a good episode. First off is the OP. I’ve always been a ALI PROJECT fan so this song did wonders for my ears. There’s nothing I disliked about the song and thankfully the full version was released early so I can listen to it to my hearts content.
As for the episode itself there wasn’t any “WTFs” like in the last but it was still awesome nonetheless. My suspicions were pretty much confirmed in this episode but they went a little beyond what I thought about previously. I had first thought that Asuna’s father was simply pimping her out but as it turns out she was being forced to into child pornography which pretty much stopped at taking pictures from what I gathered. It wasn’t until her father was going to use her little sister, Miku, that she decided to kill him and quite frankly I don’t blame her for doing what she did. Though I don’t think she should have killed Shouta but unfortunately she seemed mentally stretched at that point. The scenes of her in the bed showed just how much of a broken doll she was and I can’t help but think that made her have the twisted and feral look she had when she used her knife the first couple of times.

I’m sure many of seen this episode already so I’m going to be direct with my thoughts.
I love the art of Shigofumi as well as the soundtrack. Hearing Ueda Kana as Fumika is a blessing to my ears as I loved her in her roles in shows like Pani Poni Dash, Neuro, and Manabi Straight. It’s a little difficult to describe how I feel while watching it but I can say that it does give off similar vibes to that of Jigoku Shoujo and Shinigami no Ballad. Yet, it isn’t like either of them and has its own identity. I find the concept of delivering letters from the dead quite interesting and a refreshing touch on the theme of death. While the episode played out rather normally with a boy trying his best to confess to the girl he likes it all comes crashing down at the end when he finds out that she killed her own father. Of course he refuses to believe it and goes running to her but Fumika soon shows up and while his back his turned and he turns around, he is stabbed in the chest by Asuna.

Kimi ga Aruji de Shituji… They Are My Noble Masters is sure a long title in Japanese so I am going to refer as Kimi Aru, the more common abridged nickname. I have to admit it is very cliche and it has many similar points to both “He Is My Master” and “Hayate no Gotoku!”, but thanks to a great cast of characters and the seiyuu who voice them, we are treated to one of the more refreshing shows in the genre.

[ Episode 2: Shadow-Pulling ]

This one seemed like a build-up episode more than anything else. The development of the characters has begun but there wasn’t that much outside of Shin and his new friends and Ryo. About Ryo, I wonder who that red-haired girl was he saw? Knowing this show I’m can’t say for sure if she was actually there or just a person in his imagination. I’m looking towards more of that and his interaction with his brothers. As for Shin, I had to laugh at how he was convinced to help his friend Shadow-pull. Lol, peer pressure. Also, something seemed odd about him at the end of the episode when his friend asked him about the Personae. He chose the wrong time to not be curious about what happened to his femael friends. Anyway, Jun didn’t really do much this episode except stand/sit around and stare about people. I was expecting him to go through his gender-confusion again but I guess that’ll happen in the next episode.
Shakugan no Shana Second ep. 13

[ Episode 13: Convergence, Then a Hint ]

Intense. That’s just one of the many words I managed to think of to describe this episode. I had a rush of emotions from witnessing Pheles’ fight with Shana, Margery snapping and destroying almost everything in sight, and seeing all the people in the surrounding get hurt, especially Ogata. Damn, it really wasn’t a pretty sight when she got caught up in that blaze and was sent flying. It’s good to see that Tanaka had the reaction that he did though as it only proves that while he is a shy bastard he does care for Ogata a massive lot. This entire deal with Pheles and Johan intrigues me quite a bit. Now another question has surfaced which concerns whether or not Johan is still alive in the Reiji Maigo. And yet another question regarding what is happening to the Reiji Maigo since Pheles’ confirmed that something is wrong with it. There’s also that Sabrac who I’m guessing is will probably make an appearance later on in the story though I suppose it depends on Pheles’ story in the next episode.
