[ Episode 1: The Birth of Guardian Chara! ]
This is probably the most surprising show of the season for me to date.

In a way, this show scares me. Why you ask? This first episode left a bigger impression on me than most of the stuff that I’ve blogged/watched so far of the fall season. When I first looked at this show I didn’t know what to expect and only went into it with the knowledge that Peach Pitt was behind the manga. The main character, Hinamori Amu, lured me in with her bright features and welcoming aura on the promotional material I saw and had to remind myself not to touch the manga. It’s a good thing I didn’t read it because I don’t think I would have been taken by surprise as much as I did.
Amu’s character is refreshing to me for reasons that aren’t too clear other than I like the way she slips between her outer and inner characters. Her seiyuu, who seems to be new to the business, did a wonderful job with the various expressions and situations that presented themselves in the episode, particularly when she was in her outer-goth girl character. Seeing her struggle between being the person she is outside and her true self is a sight to see and its quite enjoyable to see her mess up here and there. I also liked the way her outer personality began as a simple misunderstanding, lol. Now that she has her eggs starting to hatch things are get even a lot more interesting with her being able to “Character transform”. The Four Guardians are looking to be decent characters as well though I’m more interested in the Queen of the group for now. Also the bishie catboy is hilarious. He seems to be quite powerful and is cunning but there’s just something about him that makes me not able to take him seriously at least half of the time.
The OP and ED songs were great. They’re quite upbeat and matches the mood and colors of Shugo Chara! perfectly. The animation is slick and crisp and better-looking than a few shows out this season and the music is very pleasant to the ears. Shugo Chara! and more specifically, Amu, left a great impression on me. I’m not sure what age range this show is aimed at but personally it doesn’t matter to me. It’s a really good show and has the potential to become a very great one from what I’ve seen so far. This is definitely a show to look out for as the season progresses.

COOL AND SPICY!
Amu is such a poser.
That’s one of the lovable parts about her imo.
another random download i did w/o checking what the show was about.
to my surprise, Magical Girl!
COOL AND SPICY!
This is exactly what lured me in! As soon as I found out it was Peach Pit, I was hooked. If this turns out well, I might actually have to check out DearS, lol.
Can’t believe catboy just went in and grabbed her eggs, lol. Don’t touch the Embryo!
@Kabitzin: not to mention that she had the balls to get back her eggs, a few seconds after LOL.
Love this show!! Being a poser then realizing what you really are, and having the courage to show that true (yet humiliating?) self of yours might sound cheesy, yet shows some potential for major character development
More COOL and SPICY! XD
Glad to see you guys blogging this… or else I might find people running away from the series because of too much fangirl vibes from my posts LOL.
