[ Episode 1: Celestial Being ]

Yeah, the boys aren’t ugly but the girls are where the pretty is at.

That was a spectacular premiere! Being dropped right into a war with the main character Setsuna had my blood pumping instantly. Then we’re taken from that to seeing all four of the Gundam Meisters in action. I thought that we would only be introduced to maybe two or three of them and then have one or two carry over but I’m glad it wasn’t like that. We also get information on what exactly Celestial Being is and what their purpose is as well. I find it interesting that they oppose war and are using force to stop it. The first thought would be that they’re hypocrites but I think it goes deeper than that. It’s great that they all are already together instead of taking episodes for them to form a team. Though of course, things can still happen in the future that can separate them.

Hearing Miyano Mamoru as Setsuna was pretty interesting though. I think I would’ve laughed to my death if I heard him say “Bokura Kira” or “I will become the God of the New World”, LOL. All of the voice talent is topnotch in my opinion and I can’t wait for the characters to get more lines since this episode was pretty much about the action. The OP and ED were nice as well, especially the OP. It’s been a while since I’ve heard something from L’Arc~en~Ciel other than Shine in Seirei no Moribito.

I’m looking forward to the stories of each Gundam Meister, especially Setsuna since I’d like to konw what happened with that Gundam in the past and how he became pilot of Gundam Exia. For some reason though I get Heero-vibes when I look at him in the present. I don’t know exactly why that is but it’s not a bad thing either. Now I can hardly wait for the next episode to air. :D

    “Yeah, the boys aren’t ugly but the girls are where the pretty is at.”

    But the girls look like they’re trying to be pretty, while the boys do it without any effort at all.

    I’m not really expecting the pilots to be anything more than tools.

    That’s true.

    Yeah, Setsuna sounds just like Yagami Light and acts like Heero Yui – an interesting mix indeed. I had to watch the episode twice to really understand everything that was going on. Overall, though, I was pretty pleased.

    It’s refreshing to see a Gundam show that does not start with the typical Gundam hijack.

    Setsuna = Sagara Sousuke

    That’s the nth time I heard about Setsuna being like Sousuke Sagara. Not to forget that RX-78-2 reference…

    Hmm. I didn’t really think about that comparison. Though I guess there is some resemblance lol.
