Kita ze Inbou! - キタぜ陰謀!

Darker than BLACK ep. 24

[ Episode 24: Meteor Shower ]

Wow. There were quite a few casualties in this episode. Huang died leading away the Syndicate from Hei, Yin and Mao. Wei is dead after fighting Hei. Amagiri is dead after being roasted by Mai! Holy crap, I suppose one of my dreams came true when I mentioned at the end of her arc that I wanted to see her again before the series ended. Lastly, it seems that Mao, at least his human consciousness, is dead as well. It was pretty sad to see both Huang and Mao go after being around so long and I really did enjoy seeing Mao’s crazy facial expressions. Along with them are the deaths of numerous other Contractors as well.

I really didn’t expect the time-jump with Amagiri and Britta but it was very nice. I think because of that and maybe a few other uses of her power, Amber has now reverted to the appearance of somewhere around 5 years old. At this point though I’m not sure what to expect with the final episode. I really want Hei to survive at the very least so that he and Yin can live together but who knows what can happen to him especially since he still has issues with Amber and his sister. Misaki seems to be in a uncomfortable position inside of Pandora and while her well-being is in question I think she’ll survive to the very end.

This show has really started to come together in the end. It took a long time to establish the story and the characters, but I must say it was nicely done.

It’s sad to see so many characters die. I do feel for all of them, even though some did not get much development. Huang really came a long way from the heartless and uncaring bastard in the beginning of the show to the brave compassionate person he became. His line about Hei stopping to eat so much makes me feel this isn’t his renumeration after all. He probably just likes to eat. Mao did not get much development, but it was still sad to see him go. We don’t know almost anything about Amagiri, but he seemed like a reasonable person. Even Wei somehow became a sympathetic character before he died. His decision to fight Hei even though he knew he was going to lose goes to show that contractors are human too and they can make their own choices governed by their emotions rather than cold logic.

In the last episode, I hope we finally learn what happened in South America five years ago and the truth about Hells/Heaven’s gate – what it really is. I also hope to see Hei reunited with his sister, though there is a chance that both of them are going to dies in the end along with Amber(she looks like four years old now). I also hope Misaki finds out Hei’s real identity and gets to interact with him before the end. This might be a little too much to hope for one episode, but even if part of it comes true, I will be satisfied.

It’ll be quite interesting to see how everything culminates in the final episode. We’ll find out for sure whether Bai is alive or not though I’m guessing she isn’t.

I used to do that rubber band finger-gun thing when I was a kid, haha.

This was a good episode, but I still feel like there is a ton of story left to tell. I hope the final episode isn’t a rushed mess, or doesn’t leave a bunch of stuff hanging.

@Kabitzin: Who knew that it could be so dangerous in the hands/fingers of the right person? XD

@BrikHaus: Hmm. I don’t feel like there is that much left to reveal outside of what happened to Bai, how Hei got his Contractor powers, and what exactly happened at the Heaven’s Gate. Unless I’m forgetting something at the moment (my head is foggy from a cold).

I would hate it if HEI dies… In my opinion one of the best Animes but if it ends like Death Note I will have to kill people.
