Kita ze Inbou! - キタぜ陰謀!

Bleach ep. 141

[ BLEACH #141]

Easily the most (and probably the only) emotional episode of Bleach to date.

This episode was everything I expected and more. It is here that the romance element finally shows itself in Bleach with Orihime confessing her love for Ichigo. The entire episode was very well directed especially when it was all focused on Orihime visiting various places. The evening backdrop made the atmosphere even more serene than is usually seen in a Bleach episode. Yuki, Orihime’s seiyuu, did an absolutely brilliant job voicing her for the entire episode but her work really shines when she’s saying goodbye to Ichigo. Her voice while crying was so sweet and when she was talking about her lifetimes and loving Ichigo in all of them…absolutely tearjerking. The animation team handled the final scenes perfectly in my opinion. They chose the right music to play for such a tender moment such as when Orihime was about to kiss Ichigo and then stopped and cried. I was back and forth between smiling (when she talked about loving Ichigo basically forever) and tearing up until the very end with the last shot of her notebook and the message “goodbye. halcyon days”.

Looks like we’ll be seeing more of the canon story for at least two more episodes though that may change sooner rather than later.

Indeed, such sweet sorrow this episode brought. I think Orihime gave one of the most interesting ways of conveying her love that I’ve ever heard. Tite’s a genius.

    BTW, what exactly is “halcyon”?

Halcyon is a term derived from Greek myth that basically means a time of peace and prosperity. So in this case “days of peace” is the way it’s being used, I think.

I actually enjoyed this episode, although there was no “action”, at least in the sense of character progression and as a segeuy into the next “chapter” in the bleach series…

btw – do you know the name of the song which plays while Inoue is about to kiss Ichigo???
please let me know if you do!!
