PAPRIKA | A FILM BY SATOSHI KON | A SONY PICTURES CLASSICS RELEASE
Many may remember that Youko did a review of this film some time ago so I’m not going to say as much as he did since I feel I’ll be saying a lot of the same things he did. So with that said, on with my thoughts!
This was one amazing movie that left me completely awed when the ending credits rolled in. Satoshi Kon made yet another masterpiece and this one is one of my favorites to date. One of his previous works, Paranoia Agent, are among my favorite shows of all-time and a similar feel in that could be found here in Paprika (just like with his other films). Much of that is in part, I think, to the amazing soundtrack composed by Susumu Hirasawa. All of the scenes from beginning to end are accompanied with music that fits the background and the action taking place. This is especially evident in the major chase scene in the movie (which is a common element in Satoshi Kon’s films). The animation, I think, it goes without saying that it’s beautiful and no number of screenshots can do it justice. Everything must be seen in motion to realize how much of a beautifully crafted film Paprika is.

No commentsef – a tale of memories ~prologue~

When I first came across this on Asuki and aniDB I thought that the summary and images I saw were enough to attract me to this show so I placed it down on my to-watch list for this Fall. Enter the prologue. I was completely taken in with the animation (done by SHAFT) and the wonderful samples of the seiyuu in their roles.

[ Episode 3: Return]
Not much Arita/Faris this time around but there is more of the hot green-haired woman!

[ Episode 45: A Funny Sort of Mansion ]
This was a fairly decent episode. It focuses on Kanda’s group still traveling together finding people compatible with Innocence. One of the best things of the episode would have to be near the end though. It shows Skin Boric actually on the trail of Tiedoll’s party. This is an indication that the anime team hasn’t totally forgotten about the manga canon story. With all of these things slowly falling into place it seems as if there just may be a second season of D.Gray-man but I suppose we’ll have to wait and see what happens when episode 52 finally arrives.

[ Episode 21: Even Peter-san Has Had Enough ]
This episode was simply awesome. It took a while for this to come around though. This was one of the earlier chapters in the manga but I think the anime team did a great job with it’s placement (Hayate already knowing Nagi’s grandpa and such). The return of Eight was hilarious solely because of Shiori. In the manga I couldn’t stop laughing after she called him “oversized trash”. The same thing happened again and I ended up watching that scene at least three times during my first watch of the episode.
