ef – a tale of memories ~prologue~

When I first came across this on Asuki and aniDB I thought that the summary and images I saw were enough to attract me to this show so I placed it down on my to-watch list for this Fall. Enter the prologue. I was completely taken in with the animation (done by SHAFT) and the wonderful samples of the seiyuu in their roles.

The main girls are already promising a tale of drama since they don’t seem to like each other at all. The insert song that played during the prologue was absolutely outstanding as well (which also plays on the official site). One doesn’t usually come across such beautiful composed music so often and it gives me a feeling that ef – a tale of memories isn’t going to be some mediocre show with a been-there-done-that premise. I haven’t played the game so I’ll be going into this with no knowledge on who will be with who when it ends which I find to be a good thing. Also, for some reason I felt some sola vibes (which I recently finished) coming from this prologue and I don’t sense any comedy harem elements either (the genre is listed strictly as romance; which is a good thing in my opinion). I’m quite looking forward to watching this once it airs and hope for it to be one of the top shows of the season if the prologue is any indication.

SHAFT did the animation!? Why couldn’t they make Negima more like THAT?
^lol
SHAFT continues to amaze me with their animation. It’s always a feast for the eyes.

Anyway, it isn’t a harem show, somewhat because there isn’t any particular male lead, this is a story of 3 male leads (there were 4 in the game, but it looks like they cut one for the show) going for 3 girl leads, who they are ultimately aiming for is pretty obvious from the get go, the story is how they get there.
It’s great to hear that. Three male leads is definitely something different from the norm. Also, thanks for the link. I not too long ago downloaded an album for ef – the first tale and I’m loving it.
Character designs by the person behind Da Capo & Sola character designs. Music director is from the person doing 5cm per second, Voices of a Distant Star, & other famous movies. The director himself for this anime, isn’t famous, although it looks like he soon will be. xD
Not surprised with the character designs (that’s why I felt the “sola vibes” after all). As for the director, yeah, it seems like he’ll be quite well-known if he pulls this off awesomely.
Three male leads? Now that does sound interesting.
Because you know I just hate greedy bastards.
I’m guessing it will be somewhat a happy ending, with the purple haired girl with the video camera guy, the girl with the eye patch, with that err, weird hair-du guy, & the brown haired girl, which seems to have put out in that picture here:
